Souls series (Dark, Demons, Bloodborne)

Miyazaki himself has stated that the story and lore of DS games came about on how much he loves western mythology (hence the references to many ancient Norse stuff in the game , albeit with different names ofc) and his own inability to completely understand the english texts on it , so he basically filled in the blanks with his own stuff. Overall , as far as being a theory about the lore , its ok , albeit a bit too loose (people love thinking about vaginas and apperantly everything needs to have a sexual symbolism, when its just a door or a cavern entrance) . The idea of huge enemies with huge swords representing phallus and "castrating" you while guarding the "vagina" (an entrance) is fucking ridiculous. Nice effort tho, but as far as intention from the author its far from what it actually is.

I cant wait for another dark souls. I love those games!

There's not enough soulsborne like games out there, we need more. The Surge (Robo souls) suffered from the same flaw as lords of the fallen. Great looking level and enemy designs and fluid combat animations, and a strong early game, but then became ultra repetitive and boring with same enemies over and over and loot becoming very underwhelming in terms of variance.

So I've been playing a bit of Dark Souls recently and it's great and all but man, fuck Blighttown. A big ass capra demon with two giant swords and his two dogs couldn't kill me, yet some jackass shooting toxic darts from the shadows can basically ohko my ass? :lol:

Hmm, have anyone tried Dark Messiah of Might & Magic.

I remember it was very methodical combat + first person ala skyrim, but a bit more on combat side.
Give it a try. It was made by arkane studio (dishonored).

You can go for heavy melee / light melee / caster or archer IIRC.
I already finished it, quite nice on story side.

Yea , fuck Blighttown as a newcomer to Souls.

I remember playing Dark Messiah so long ago, and being very immersed in it. Its basically Deus Ex with sword and magic , albeit not as well written as Deus Ex is. (im talking about the original Deus Ex by the way)

Very non linear ways to get around obstacles, sometimes in very funny ways that risk breaking the seriousness immersion, which i wont spoil.

Dark Messiah is pretty good, yeah. Rope bow was hilarious, I always explore levels and look for secrets in games, and that bow was a fun tool for that purpose.

Still bummed no Bloodborne 2 announcement at E3.

Just sayin'.
