Well, all innate skills grant a benefit throughout the game. Though underused, it was the same for Force wall. But I guess it doesn‘t Matter anyway since it‘s gone now.
As for the symbol: weird enough, when I google epsilon I can find the sigma symbol, too. I wonder why that is. So yeh it‘s very likely that it‘s not your fault for mixing it up.
Actually, there are 2 symbols for sigma. The horizontal 6 like symbol is lowercase and the Median XL Sigma symbol is the uppercase.
