+%EWD increases your *total* physical damage.
EWD is part of the second half of the formula, which multiplies your total base damage.
With really high base damage weapon, EWD become more beneficial.

Does the LCS take into account stats like avoid or is the %chance to get hit only accounting the usual defense calculation?

1. How does phys=>elem damage conversion work? Does the final damage benefit from +%phys damage?

2. How to scale TTAD? Attack/cast speed only? What is it's damage type, true damage, or perhaps phys/magical/other by default?

Exactly as it says. Converts xx % physical damage into elemental damage.

Example: Stormblast (barb skill) converts 100% physical damage to lightning. All of your physical damage now turns into lightning damage. More physical damage will boost more lightning damage, more lightning pierce = more DPS. Only thing now is that you can't leech life or mana cause you deal no physical damage with that skill to leech from.
1. In SP, do trophies drop more often when increasing players (/players x), 'cause I see that Ennead necromancer always drops hammer on 8P even when drop chance is 1/4

2. fire resist will only help against the apocalypse and the molten boulder from firebloods.
Azmodunk himself has -1000% enemy fire resist a.k.a. good luck tanking flamestrike

Sorry but still missing a crucial clarification : "more physical damage will boost more lightning damage", are you talking about flat phys (such as +min/max damage on crafted gear), or about +% physical damage (such as found on some buffs, skills and passives, and to some extent on some uniques as well)?

(I get that more flat phys would turn into more flat elem, but i'm curious about wether conversion inherits +%physical damage)
