on SP and wondered if you can add sockets via socket punch recipe. I put it in cube with 4 jewels and it succeeded. Just wanted to know whether it is intended, since the item itself has no sockets - so why not add them in the first place?

Depends on your preferences. I for example play on a projector. My screen is 3m x 2m wide and I‘m 2,50 m away from the screen with a Resolution of 1920x1080. If I were to play in windowed mode, I‘d see nothing. And always changing the resolution just so I can play D2 is also stupid, so I play in fulscreen mode without stretching of the screen.

As for the cursor lock: you can easily set this up via glide.
