The difference is not that big for Mind Flay because his numbers are somewhat in line with the hard points I tested on my SP paly!

You simply must use symbiosis synergy for extra around 100%+ light spell damage and stack more gear for it just like on any another caster. Bow itself won't give you op oskill. It's not weak because of "damage scaling" (which is not based on any hard points for mind flay) but because of not enough boost like NRG(factor), STR(factor), light spell damage, etc.

I found MF better if I face tanked mobs, guessing because it meant all the beams were hitting the same target. Defeated the point of why I went a caster though so ultimately ditched it. Needs another buff imo.

This is not correct.
The base Damage of most spells is scaling with skill level and char lvl only.
The most important difference to base skill lvl are the Synergies that granted by base points.
If there is a difference between Pala mindflay and Oskill mindflay in damage numbers while all other variables are the same, then probably because the damage tables are different and therefore they are kind of different skills.

On a fresh lvl 100 Druid you do not have access to Symbiosis nor have you enough stat points to equip SSU Viper Bow and boosting your Synergy granted by your Energy. But if you want to go for it from start I have some suggestions and maybe it will work out much better than you thought.

First of all get - 10 req jewels for all 6 sockets of your SSU bow - maybe with some adds but plain - req will work fine too. You will end up with 264 str required. All other gear pieces that you wear for battle should not have higher reqs.
The other stat points (more than 300) you can put into energy to boost your synergy. This will be much better than Ort runes at this stage, if we take the buffing from mark of the wild and the Acid Fiends into account.

MO everything with Lightning Spell Damage, and stuff you need. All except the bow socket with Ort runes.



Energy factor will be more beneficial when you gathered quite some charms with stats and hit the 2000 energy mark. At this point you should crafting Jewels with EF and Spell Damage and other stuff you need.

Basically anything under "Next Level" in the tool tip scales the same way by a soft point or a hard point unless the dmg tables are different for that particular spell. The synergies part however does not get carried over by soft points. Which is why I wanted to test the damage tables for MF by using a SP paly to compare. I can confirm that it looks about the same tbh so the dmg table isn´t altered or at least not in any major way. It´s just that stacking the dmg on druid and getting it to work like it does on paly will be a lot harder considering the slot lock among other things.

Like I said, it´s a meme late game thingy you switch to if you are bored. But leveling up with it and making it into a viable build (not just a late game switchero) is going to be mighty difficult primarily due to item stats and slot lock. But would be fun to see the video if you can find a link for it. That´d be appreciated!

This is a paladin. There was never any question about whether or not Mind Flay on a pally was good. I don't see how this is relevant to his Druid.
