Doesn't xSplit watermark the video though?

xSplit is kinda shit compared to OBS, unless they vastly improved if since the last time I used it (long ago), but I doubt that. It also limits various features, since it's not completely free.

Note, OBS takes configuration to get it perfect, so look up some "best quality config for obs" videos on Youtube for explanation of what everything is and how to have good quality. It's not as user-friendly.

I have D2SE set in windowed mode with Borderless Gaming running it in fullscreen and when i try to record with OBS all i get is black footage it does however record the sound.

so it's a window, not fullscreen. then just use capture window and find the D2 window in the list?

I had the same problem (win8). The solution is to enable "run as administrator" in the properties of both game.exe (in d2 folder) and your OBS shortcut. Then simply run diablo and enter a game. Run OBS, create a new scene and add game capture - Diablo II.

I don't use multires or borderless gaming, but maybe this solves your issue too.

BorderlessGaming doesn't make it full screen. It's still windowed. Do what Quirinus said, or use Monitor capture and subregion where your game is.
