Since we have drawing thread, why dont we make a new thread specifically for making games. Basically Im just bored in office (read my post in IRL thread) and usually I play one / two hearthstone games while waiting for next checklist.
Personally I might want to use this thread as for personal place where I can shared any non-work related stuff here and hopefully share on ideas on how I did that particular thingy. Im quite a lazy person that I rather playing games or watching anime, but when in office, maybe I can use free time to do personal project to do game prototype.
Feel free to share / ask anything to do with game development here, at least I could keep my mind busy while im in office rather than watching youtube / anime / games.
1st Prototype idea for me:
Design Ideas:
Game engine Unity 2017, Single Player, Non-online stuff / plugin, short burst (5 minutes?) + repeatable high score attack games (so i dont have to worried about level design), adjustable / scale-able difficulty to prolong gameplay, pc platform (itch.io in the future maybe).
Design Focus:
1. Mechanic : Since Im more toward programmer (more like scripting lol) so I put on complex game play mechanic first
2. Art : Not sure if I wanted to go 3D or 2D, but for starter, i would wanted to use any free asset on assetstore (unity's asset shop) and try to work from there. I could try to create everything from scratch (3D using blender, 2D using paint.net both open source)
3. Sound : Weakest part, have to find any random commercial usage free audio from online and sfx. I could try to make my own music, but atm it is not main focus.
4. Content : Never aim for something big at start. So probably Im thinking something that doesnt required much asset and focus on how to give player more ways to score higher.
Maybe I shouldve just join any game jam, but Im pretty lazy to do work on weekend hmm.
I will for any feedback before I proceeded to next step.
