So far, my best experience with DS char is Blood zon&Death Star. Actually I put just 7 pts in blood tree(1 pt in Blood Magic and 5 in Spiritual Invocation+1 pt in Crimson RIte as prereq) and optional points in Fire elements-they are not needed, just an additional layer of defence as meat shields...

Right now I'm testing Death Star Javazon. Up to lab 7 viable. For lab 8&9 I switiched to Death Star blood zon. Java is nice against weapon damage dealers, but vs. elemental damage has no way to mitigate dmg. It needs some mechanic, similar to claw assassin, with % chance to block spells. Or/And ...
