I just encountered a shiny hoarder goblin and it dropped exactly one arcane crystal .

Hmmm maybe you're just not fast enough? I ran into a couple of them today, maybe 2 hours of playing.
Most of them are the normal ones though, I only encountered one of the more special ones.

For bossing you can add a couple more shaels, but for normal gameplay/farming I don't have any.

I'll play multiplayer if you give me $100 every time there is some frustrating lag or connection issue.

Would depend on the drop rate of relics. It might be faster just to farm them instead of running.

ssf is still ok, maybe you can't do samael or lower labs, but is that really such a big deal.
Sure median isn't as easy to play casual as classic d2, but with some off game research etc it's good.

I tried a handful of the ssf starter builds and cold sorc still seems the most universal to me. It can farm most gear for itself and other builds pretty effectively and it can also collect most of the charms.
