Did you build 3fps attack speed with a balanced axe of some kind to test how the damage loss would compared to the faster attack speed?

As you grind through the game you'll frequently find items worth small amounts of TG (Bellas, shrines, etc) so I wouldn't worry too much. Best thing for efficient Tg in game is picking a starter class that has decent kill speed capabilities in mid game for item farming with just TU's/crafts.
