Tsunlise.

Not the biggest comedy and romance anime fan , with a few exceptions if the story is good enough to justify all that (Toradora) ; this however was another exception because of the premise.

I'm not blown away by it by any means, but at least its comedy and romance that doesnt rely on slapstick and all that overly shoujo demographic oversaturated romance bullshit.

On MAL forum, actually i made a thread about bad anime with awesome song, and this anime is one of them. Seeing it got average score, which is high for old anime, so i assume this anime surely have merit to watch.

Focusing the alien storyline, it began when advanced alien have breach in their ship that carrying some monster eggs. They crash landed to forest area near our protagonist house. She then came closer to discover advance spaceship as well as deadly monster going rampage. Unreluctant, she forced to transform a combat unit, merging with artificial lifeform. After the end of the battle, the lifeform somehow transform to become her clone, so they now live together while attending same classes. From here on, protagonist life changed for better so she can become more confident.

Lets just say, i dont care much about the fight aspect of this anime. It feel like a monster of the week, with subpar animation, no proper choregraph or even rewarding scene. The design of monster somehow kept evolving inbetween episodes, yet it still focused more on more tentacles for some reason. While the school life aspect is more interesting, it suffered from slow pacing that feel like im watching a slow burn emotional rollercoaster anime. Big problem is probably double runtime, so this is kinda like 26 episodes anime.

Definitely not average quality like i thought. Reviewer said positively on MAL, but personally it is just sloth to go through. Even though there are some emotional moment, but to me it feel like i just get more emotional damage.

Oh as a bonus, here is the intro of anime. Kinda weird right?

Synopsis
Self-professed "home security guard" Mahiro Oyama has not left his home in years, secluding himself in his room playing erotic visual novels. This depraved lifestyle causes his prodigious sister, Mihari, to worry about his well-being. In hopes of solving this problem, she devises a plan to rehabilitate him back to normalcy.

The first part of Mihari's plan is to concoct a medicine that changes her brother's biological constitution into a bona fide female, much to Mahiro's vehement dismay. Stuck in this predicament, Mahiro has no choice but to live out his life as a cute girl until the effect wears off—if it ever does.

The anime that have been on my radar for awhile because yuri lover cant stop post it on discord. For me, im interested in the artstlye and it was made by studio Bind, which animated excellent Mushoku Tensei (which tackle kinda similar concept).

Unlike many other gender bender, we couldnt see how our protagonist look like before transformation as we immediately see him (or her) in young girl form. Since he skipped his middle school, this will be the time where he will get outside and be like normal student. As more episodes progress they able to experience many activities. Comedy insue just like typical "young girl discover her body", like long queue in toilet, buying bra in shopping mall or eating parfait with friends. Pretty chill overall, in fact more wholesome than what i expected (since it is perfect bait for ecchi stuff).

As usual, all this anime have is subjective stuff like cgdct, comedy and slice of life. If you werent fan of those, you will find these unbearably boring. There is no "lesson of the week", no learning new stuff except it mostly just putting our protagonist in weird spotlight. Despite there are many moments you think will get uncomfortable, it being brushed as funny stuff so you really have to watch this with open mind. Personally i didnt vibe with comedy tone and it didnt have emotional payoff like i wanted.

It got high score on MAL, but i personally think it is just above average. Tbh i was disappointed it didnt vibe with me despite Im fan of this type of anime. Perhaps a more balanced / serious story would pull me more.

We all shall be the BFF!

Synopsis
Naho Takamiya's first day of her sophomore year of high school is off to an uneasy start. After waking up late, she receives a strange letter addressed to her. However, the letter is from herself—10 years in the future! At first, Naho is skeptical of the note; yet, after witnessing several events described to take place, she realizes the letter really is from her 26-year-old self.

The note details that Naho's future life is filled with regrets, and she hopes that her younger self can correct the mistakes that were made in the past. The letter also warns her to keep a close eye on the new transfer student, Kakeru Naruse. Naho must be especially careful in making decisions involving him, as Kakeru is not around in the future. With the letter as her guide, Naho now has the power to protect Kakeru before she comes to regret it once more.

I went to list of top popular anime on MAL and found this anime. It have been on my mind to watch it, although i vaguely aware about the story but i know it is a story about friendship with minor time traveling mechanic.

While I was watching whole series, I have probably different feeling than probably target audience of this series. Sometimes I wish I can go the past and live without regret. Hence why this series resonance so strong, although the mystery aspect is exactly what I enjoyed so much in the beginning. As more episodes goes, more letters content are being shown until the shocking revelation that one person died by suicide. So she and her group of friend need to save the person & live enjoyable school life.

However as much as i like the whole time travel letter concept, the story is truly shoujo anime with typical love triangle unable to confess their feeling, randomly brooding mood and being over melodramatic. Aside of the usual slice of life stuff, i feel like that once the mystery is fully explained it lost the magic and I dont think i enjoyed many part near the end. It have up and down moment, although you can have go through painful teenager love story, especially with this shy protagonist.

I think this anime is special case for me, it resonate well but seem many people questioning the logic of time travel or how stupid the teenagers are. I didnt get emotional much, but overall i think this is decent anime for me.

Quick reviews for many animes i watched while im grinding through Nier Automata.

1. Shinobi no Ittoki : Ninja war in modern era, interesting premise but super terrible executing. Extremely bad
2. Shumatsu no Harem : Every male die & MC need to make babies with all girls. Couldve been interesting but boring, pointless & annoying sex fest.
3. Mou Ippon! : Cgdct, but with judo gameplay. Not too technical but not too cute either. Alot of kinda ok personal stories / journey i guess.
4. She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man : Aka old man turned to loli. One of the worse studio / animation adaptation from a decent LN
5. Beast Tamer : Powerful MC get beast chicks. Fairly average, although im surprised that this is not isekai with OP MC
6. The Ryuo's Work is Never Done! : Cute loli playing shogi. Couldve been good series, but didnt go into depth. Probably too cute for serious story.
7. Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill : tl;dr wholesome cooking anime in isekai. definitely one of best among i watched recently
8. Gakuen Babysitter : Highschool students running a daycare. Cute characters, wholesome story although didnt resonate with me much. Too shoujo-ish
9. The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody : UGH, sometimes i wonder if japan gone bankrupt with good isekai idea
10. High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World! : Low score on MAL, but fairly average isekai to me. Instead of 1 OP MC, you get 7
11. Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie : Couple of simply cant communicate. She try to be cute but ppl deemed her to be perfect cool instead. Average
12. Moriarty the Patriot : Excellent tale "down with aristocrat!" between 2 opposing forces. Probably the best anime with good ending from this list.

Ugh, fatigue from video game & anime watching at same time really burned me out and I think I also need to avoid isekai for now.
As for why Im watching a random trash show, this because there are official "full anime" playlist that i kept running on 2nd monitor for last 60++ hours.

If you want to watch anime, go for number 12 & 7 specifically get high recommendation from me.

How to kill pacing via flashbacks, the anime
Image

For centuries, the Demon Slayer Corps has sacredly kept the location of Swordsmith Village a secret. As the village of the greatest forgers, it provides Demon Slayers with the finest weapons, which allow them to fight night-crawling fiends and ensure the safety of humans. After his sword was chipped and deemed useless, Tanjirou Kamado, along with his precious little sister Nezuko, is escorted to the village to receive a new one.

Meanwhile, the death of an Upper Rank Demon disturbs the idle order in the demon world. As Tanjirou becomes acquainted with Mist Hashira Muichirou Tokitou and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, ferocious powers creep from the shadows and threaten to shatter the Demon Slayers' greatest line of defense.

While the previous season was supposed to the best arc of the series & i didnt enjoy it, i didnt put high expectation going into this one. Since I heard it just finish airing recently, so i spent no time and immediately binge it.

If one way to describe this season, it would be like slow burn. It slow methodical story telling managed to tell several importants information about the lore of the series, especially about characters and history of demon slayer corps itself. With looming threat of 2 highest ranks demon, the protagonist in this arc is aided by 2 high ranks from demon slayers as well. Making strong ground for intense fight between 2 sides, which i think unique on its own. Additional to that, we also got to see story about another 1 side character as well.

I think main issue with this arc is heavy reliance on flashback in middle of combat to tell the story. I mean, i prefer if there is some exposition to tell the story assuming during its down time. To make it worse, this arc felt like focusing on wrong things for 11 episodes, especially we already seen the same formulaic in many other previous arc. There arent enough content, despite i was expecting the adaptation to add more stories. Oh, the villains are laughable this time around so dont need to care about them at all.

My verdict is : just wait for shorter movie / recap or better just read the synopsis. There isnt much good thing to say other than this is just slightly above average anime adaptation.

My Home Hero.

Father sets out to protect his daughter from the yakuza neighbor who beats her up, then finds out it goes way deeper than that.

An adult anime dealing with adult issues, where *most* characters act and react like real people would. What a breath of fresh air in anime. Recommend.
