For the quest/bounty/challenge quest/whatever it's called system, I think generating new quests upon creating new games is a bad idea. People could keep rerolling the game until they get a certain quest which is far easier than the rest, exploiting the system. I say, if possible, use system time and allow it to be reset per character every x hours...

This is not a problem, since as both me and marco already mentioned, the reward is specific (and balanced) to the generated quest. Therefore, you sure could waste your time rerolling games to get a "king kill koth" quest, but you will get the low tier reward that goes with it.

But jokes apart, great freaking job. IIRC you said somewhere that you made it possible to activate Arreat's parallax effect everywhere. That and this should make Marco (and by extension the community) very happy for mapping and level design. Thanks for the work you two guys put forth.

Any level can now have a landscape background. This is all softcoded in levels.txt. The landscape backgrounds are also part of the theme architecture, meaning they can be themed as well. (Although as a user you will not have control over which level has a landscape background or not). The provided screenshot was posted more as a proof of concept (also I did post screenshots of this on the old forums a while ago, but I'm reposting it since the code was rewritten from scratch)

Not really, since they are 12 framed images to start with (1024x768), that would be hard to animate. Well it would be easy to make special hardcoded cases, but making it so the user can create either an animated or static landscape would be hard. (not hard actually, but that would be stupid. basically every landscape would come in 12 individual images with dynamically counted frame count)
