TheUnderling wrote:How do multiple sources of flat poison damage average out their durations? Say I had sources A,B and C. Is it the average between A and B and then average between A&B and C so it's (A+B+2C)/4? or are they all averaged simultaneously so that it's (A+B+C)/3?

Your snake stance does 100 poison damage per second over 5 seconds.
You have a pair of gloves that do 10 poison damage per second over 9 seconds. First you add the damage per second=100+10=110. Then you add and average the duration = (5+9):2 = 7. Now in order to calculate the total damage, all you need to do is 7*110=770. As you can see, the not so impressive gloves, increased our total poison damage by 54%.

I guess it's (A+B+C)/3 for the duration. Dmg should be A+B+C.

Is poison duration really that important? I mean which enemy survives 15 seconds?

I don't think you wrote that properly, based on the description you gave. You don't divide the poison damage by the duration.

From the little description you wrote:

( damage1 + damage2 +damage3 + ... ) * ( ( duration1 + duration2 + duration3 + ... ) / total number of duration sources )

I could be wrong, but that seems to be how you explained it.

It depends on the skill used and has to be tested on a case-by-case basis.

What are you asking..?

Those two don't even remotely pair up. Fire cannonade is a spell. You'll get none of the stats from Dear Esther except life after kill, %DR, dex, and resist.

The only statement you could make is that Fire Cannonade uses attack speed animations and Dear Esther has 50% IAS, but its a bow and relatively slow speed unless you're an amazon with ecstatic frenzy and max breakpoint.

I mean the combination of paladin superbeast skill + fire cannonade amulet + dear esther (striking proc, ias, life after each kill, %dr, dex and resist)

Fire cannonade doesn't do on striking procs.

Any spell that doesn't do weapon dmg will not trigger on striking procs, or on kill procs.

Edit: Except as Fumbles said below me, poison will trigger on kill procs.

As Nitz said, striking procs aren't caused by spells.

There are much better options for Paladin to make use of Fire Cannonade, and you don't really need to worry about ias too much because superbeast already makes it more than fast enough in most cases. the laek and such can come from other items, no problem. %DR is no issue with Blessed Life (BRC Skill), and dex is no problem with Stormlord.

Globus Cruciger

Blessed Wrath
Blessed Wrath
Hundsgugel (Sacred)

Defense: (2883 - 3327) to (3192 - 3684)
(Paladin Only)
Required Level: 100
Required Strength: 500
Item Level: 120
+3 to Paladin Skill Levels
+(50 to 75) Spell Focus
(25 to 30)% Cast Speed
+(10 to 15)% to Spell Damage
-(15 to 20)% to Enemy Lightning Resistance
+(160 to 200)% Enhanced Defense
(20 to 30)% to Energy
Maximum Mana +(11 to 15)%
+(30 to 50) Life after each Kill
(40 to 50)% Bonus to Defense
+(2 to 3) to Light Radius
Socketed (4)
is a good combo. Even the SU version of that helm,
Khalim's Gloriole
is a decent option. Crafted Crown Shield will give you the most defense of the paladin shields and you can get some crazy rolls on those. I saw a few yesterday in my crafting that hit 74% Fire Spell Damage and I wasn't even using a Fascinating Shrine. Get yourself a nice shield with +2-3 pala skills, high fire spell damage, some pierce, then whatever else you want. There's a ton of items and gear that will boost Fire Cannonade. It doesn't need much, honestly, because it's just innately a strong spell. Make sure you get -100% fire pierce and you're good to go for the most part.
