Direct3D and 3DFX Glide suddenly not working

Hello, I seem to have ran into a problem where Direct3D and 3DFX suddenly don't work anymore with median XL.

I was tweaking the glide settings earlier and now the game just freezes immediately.

Returning to default doesn't help, completely uninstallning, restarting, and reinstalling all of diablo2 and medianXL doesn't help. Game seems to run fine with DirectDraw (2D) enabled. Also if I just reinstall d2 and LOD and do not use medianXL it works perfectly fine.

Also it seems to work if I manually download median xl and apply the files from the zip into the d2 folder. But then I can't connect to the MedianXL server. So i've narrowed it down to something with the patcher I believe? I just don't know what to do from here.

Freezes while loading?
What windows do you have?

1. Glide: turn off "Keep desktop composition"
2. If Windows 7: right click game.exe --> Properties --> turn on "Disable desktop composition" (maybe even "Disable video themes")
3. game.exe --> Properties --> turn on "Run in 256 (8-bit) color mode"

Some of these should solve the problem.

Yep it was "Keep desktop composition"

I guess the default settings button doesn't quite restore ALL defaults like I had though.
