ya, the reason i like levels in blink right now is the lower cooldown which only hard points does. stun length doesn't need to be long, just high usage uptime so i can jump from pack to pack with a stun to start them all off with. very much a playstyle thing rather than effeciency. just happens it's what keeps me alive atm too. No matter what i'll keep it under 3 seconds, preferably 2.5 (forget where the diminishing return value gets high, feels around there)

edit: would be really nice if the AoE range went up by skill points instead of stun duration. just a flat 3 second but increased AoE for usefulness. i can't recall the amount of times i missed one of those mana sucking bastards in the jungle. The only time i ever come close to dying there is without merc + mana syphoned. increased range would be an amazing quality of life more valuable than a duration bonus (most things die in far less than a 7-8 second stun anyway lol)

As for vicegrip i was questioning it because i have the str i need with current gear. might go up some when i use sacred quilted armor, but i doubt it'll be high enough to need the str from vicegrip. I think the main reason it might be used is for crucify and max damage. not at home atm so i forget if crucify is weapon dmg or magic dmg. And theirs lack of good gloves outside su. Deadfall i probably won't use, so many other belts have far more uses. 60 str is nice don't get me wrong, but i prefer life leech when i'm already sitting over 2k dex without any real charms, and still over 250 more sigs i can add. a little str for the time being isn't a big deal.

Hail as a off weapon for ST fights is something that i'll certainly look into. as it's the ubers right now that give me issues. Still can't kill Jitan at 115. Was waiting for 115 to adjust gear/respec which i'll do either tonight or tomorrow depending on how long my homework takes me. I'll probably go for a 5 blade QoB just for certain ubers combined with the judge. My SU belt will be transferred over, as will my teganze pendant off of sorc at 116 (the lvl it is after mo's). I do like the extra crit on shadow dancer. when you're doing 100ish strikes per skill at that rate it just ends up as an outright 25% dmg increase (assuming the elemental damage can crit, and is added at 65% per bat, which is why i considered the TU tiara > set helm. that cold dmg would add up really fast + solid leech).

Only converted elemental damage can crit, added elemental damage can't. That's why Shadow Dancer has diminished returns on heavy elemental scaling builds. Also only physical damage can leech (except explicitly stated otherwise).

Lazyquote from the general mechanics guide:

Modifiers for weapon damage are applied as follows:
1: Ethereal Bonus (50% base damage on weapon)
2: %Enhanced Damage (%ED)
3: +Flat Damage.
4: %Physical Damage, this includes %EWD from items, %damage from skills / passives and buffs and str/dex factor, which are all ADDED up into one big multiplier (%dmg = %EWD + %physdmg + %dex/strbonus)
5: Deadly Strike (if it rolls successfully, x2 all damage up until this point)
6: %Conversion is applied.
7: +Flat elemental damage from weapon/gear/skills.
8: %WDM of skill used.


Personally, I also always tend to put more than one point into Blink and QoB. The difference between 3.5 and 2.2 seconds blink timer is huge. For my playstyle I put at least six and sometimes up to 19 hardpoints into blink and usually QoB up to five targets (9 hp). QoB hits decently increase damage spread, they leech, they carry striking-procs and on-hit effects like slows.

ya the on striking procs is what i was thinking of with more points in QoB. atm i'm not using judge so it's pretty limited as i don't have on striking procs till i regear/respec.

Currently i'm at like 18 hard points on blink i think. enough to stun lock my intial jump so they don't insta collapse on my weak self, mobility to get around quickly (a playstyle i like, kind of because i'm heavily infused in enigma tele > agro styles outside of just hidn. much past 2 seconds makes that feel really clunky)

so the +flat damage would be the ways damage bonus right? 65% of the ways damage carrying into each hit? (if that's the case, the circlet of 300 or so dmg would be about 195 per bat that actually hits which adds up fast. plus ways.)
Is that flat damage before or after % bonuses? for example way of the gryphon boosts lightening damage + flat lightning damage on hit. does it apply to it's own lightening weapon damage before or strictly the base unmodified value?

As for elemental damage converted and shadow dancer statement that kind of confuses me. when you mean converted is that 65% of the elemental damage being carried over? (65% weapon damage = 65% carryover of flat elements/% elements)

For exampe if you have (completely arbitrary numbers) 1000 thunder weapon damage on a piece of gear, and 40% bonus from way of the gryphon (ignoring the way of the gryphon flat damage for this). do you get 650 converted lightening damage per strike (65% of flat) or do you get 910 (650 * 1.4).

Additionally for the crit aspect of that. is it a crit on the 650 as the only damage. crit on the 910 as only damage, or crit on 650 + 260 (1560 total) just not curious how the elemental conversion/% modifiers carry over when you say conversion.

"converted" means elemental/magic damage that comes from a skill which converts physical into elemental/magic damage, think of the throw skill Maelstrom for example which converts phys into magic. Flat damage from ways and gear cannot crit. Percentage spell damage (for example from ways) only benefits the initial direct melee hit* but not any procs or projectiles.

*this is a wonky mechanic and I'm not sure if that's still the case, anyway: spell damage doesn't work particularly well with wdm skills.


Very Basic Example with noctule:

1000 physical damage
300 fire damage from wotp
x% crit

Each noctule bat will do 0.65 * ( 1000 + 300 )
Only the red colored part can ever crit (the physical part) and if it does, the red number is doubled.

OK, tested ligeia shield (non-XIS version, with XIS proc chance is smth like doubled, but still).
Block is def. not 0, with class-specific shield (you can't do this RW in non-asa shield) you have 4%, so max block is possible. But hades gate is soooo weak now...
Small radius. No slow. No knockback. Basically "mini-pounce-proc" and that's all.
Fun in very high density/low HP areas (cows, travincial and so on), but if you can't kill enemies in 1 hit (1x HG) it's not so usefull. Enemies still can hit you (and will do so) so you end pouncing around randomly and taking damage. Judge procs out of HG, but dunno, need to be heavily overpowered in any are for this to be usefull.

One interesting observation - i think uninterruptible attack prevent procs from happening. At least what i see here - while i attack with something - no HG, just hammers from judge, but as soon i release lmb - proc chain starts. Needs confirmation and more testing, but IMO HG-Judgesin is dead :(

Ber craft jewels are your friend. Try to reach 15% FHR/FBR/life/%dex..etc beside 2% life leech. But at early game, 2% life leech is acceptable.
