hi,

while analyzing - rewriting drops for sigma, I figured it would be interesting to explain how duncraig "Sacred Bias" drops work. This isn't really a bias towards sacred items, but a bias towards higher qlvl (quality level) items. This means that the buff works for tiered items as well - in fact, Duncraig is not only the best place to find Sacreds, but also to find tier 6 items. And did you know that every Tier 6 item is as rare as its Sacred variant? Next time you find a tier 6 unique Naginata in Duncraig make sure to feel bad :)

anyways after several days working with treasureclasses, I made some formulas to get the exact chance of base equipments to drop.
what makes duncraig "sacred" bias so good is that the higher the qlvl of the item, the higher the boost. So high qlvl items like naginatas, warp blades, labrys are the ones that receive the biggest buff.

Number explanation: percent chance for item to drop if equipment drop is chosen. Note that not every kill might give an equipment drop. Because depending on area, the chance a monster will drop an equip is different. For example, regular mobs have 10% chance to drop equip, elites & dunc mobs have 25%, fauzt 17%, etc... These numbers increase with player count, by the way.

So if you want to find how many normal monsters you need to kill on average to get a sacred Naginata, formula would be 100 / chance for base item / chance for equip so 100 / 0,0109 / 0,1 = 91.743 kills - however in duncraig it's 100 / 0,1116 / 0,25 = 3.584 kills. Impressive, although don't forget that killing a normal monster is easier and faster.

That's it. And although this is supposed to be a dunc topic, it also illustrates exactly the rarities of all base equipments outside of dunc.

Fun fact: if you're looking for sacred leather gloves, boots or sash, duncraig is the worst place to search, they are 33% rarer than anywhere else on destruction :) They have a really low qlvl, so sacreds in groups armo72 and armo75 become rarer. So if you want to get for example demonic touch, Tran Athulua is much faster than dunc.

Before anyone asks, yes, duncraig sacred bias will be reworked in sigma, currently it's a monopoly of rare items (rarest items being x10 times more common or more compared to all other uberlevels) which explains why it's the far superior farming area, as the bias is quite excessive.

I just skimmed through quickly, but I didn't see jewelry rates included (which makes sense because they aren't necessarily equipment, so to speak).

If we are talking about drop rates, I wonder if you could compare the likelihood of a Cornerstone of the World (or any unique jewel, not specifically COTW) in the uber levels... Say... Fauztinville vs. Vizjun?

I know it's been discussed because of density and biases for certain areas, but what truly would be the best place to farm efficiently for cotw's? Fauzt has a larger density and less Instakill, but Vizjun has a jewel drop bias, if I remember correctly, and res pawning mobs. Just curious if you'd be able to factually clarify which would be a better place to farm for those.

Side note: yes, I know someone will say "noob to farm Valthek". This is not what I'm asking about. I already know he drops a unique jewel.

In void the ghosts drop mainly from tc87, but is their chance of tc90 increased or reduced if you compare it to regular areas? Because I dont think I ever saw a nagi drop from them.

@LHawkins1: jewelry are not equip, they don't have a tier progression and their qlvl doesn't scale. Only ilvl matters.

Regarding cotw comparision, since neither level has specific chance for %unique, you only have to see which level drops more jewels to see which one has better cotw drop rate, and that is obviously fauzt. But just to be exact, you get a jewel every 58 kills in fauzt against a jewel every 147 kills in vizjun.

@Seekers: yes void eternals will only drop items from tc87 (it's a bug)

also I fixed some of the numbers / values in the main topic.

@marco fun fact, you have 1337 posts

Also quick question, out of 1000 unique jewels on average how many will be cotw? (if found in dest)

I thought a sacred spangenhelm was rarer than Jawbone, really the most annoying item to find sacred (Just checked, way lower chance, no love for zons). And I still can't wrap my head around the fucking light belt being the rarest belt.
