Why do people need damage calc?

If mobs don't die fast enough, get more damage.

if it's elemental dmg, and your pierce is under 150 (170 for bosses), then pierce > spell dmg. otherwise get more spell dmg. if you can't get more spell dmg then get more energy (if it's a spell).

if it's wdm damage get more of the stat the weapon receives bonus dmg from (str or dex), or you can get more flat dmg from armors. if you are using an elemental weapon or relying on flat elemental dmg, then EWD > ED. and also, 150/170 pierce for the element.

specifically for poison, increased poison skill duration is very effective
