Monster types?

Does Median XL have champion and unique monsters like original Diablo 2 has? In Diablo 2 LOD monsters randomly spawn as champions or uniques with random names, does this happen in Median XL?

No, it doesnt, because the game is very different than clod. There are elite enemies in regular areas, they have yellow name, you will see. But then, in uber areas, every enemy is like an elite, and really dangerous, unlike in clod.

this CAN only happen if you activate a "monster shrine" . you will see the text "Death's advocate approaches" , after which a champion monster will spawn close by , or a monster close to the shrine (usualy the strongest of them) will be turned into champion , or sometimes you will see just some spiders crawling around for a few seconds and no opponent for you to fight with

Champion variety packs do spawn in Teganze for some reason.

It's feature added in some M17 (?) version.. When Teganze itself was appeared from "renamed" Unformed land. These packs have higher chance to drop essences/runestones (according to some old changelog).
