First before i explain, let me say this game is awesome! Thanks for bringing my diablo 2 addiction back to life. Been playing non-stop for 3-4 days now and its great. Builds are nice, i might not be an expert yet but im working on Malice Necro lvl 122. I used Totems to absorb damage since they work great for damage avoidance unless its a strong boss. A few questions, is casting speed 200%? Should i try to block like on Diablo 2? Heres some of my Stats:

Boneyard is 11k Damage
8k Life
55k Defense
200% Fast Cast
1155 Energy

Its gotten me through most of the game including some 115-120 dungeons. Now the problem..

I can't kill Akarat, i got real close but he refills before death. I re-rolled stats a few times and used my precious Belladonna extract, now i have no more.. :(
Is Necro too weak to kill akarat? I will skip him i guess. I don't have full sacred set armors yet, still tier 4 uniques. Is there a secret i dont know? I thought at level 120 i should be able to do. Necro must be a weaker class maybe? Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks, and GREAT GAME

Update:

Got a 2nd piece of Sacred Set (Celestial Orchard)
Added +10% Magic Damage on Rings and Amulet
Damage went up from 11k to 15k with other improvements.

Finally beat him, but the damage still wasn't fast enough. The trick was slowing him with Dream Eater and kiting him. If he touched anything it would full heal him, so i had to unsummon minions and use a ranged Mercenary

Finally its over!

Heres My current setup in case any Necros have trouble:

I got rid of Totems and put more into Jinn's (Summoning 3 jinns do great crowd control, just don't use them during Akarat)
Switch to Bloodmage Mercenary to keep distance

Head: Umbaru's Jinx
Belt: Aerin Orbiter
Boots: Wake of Destruction
Shield: Shadowchild
Gloves: Aiwass (Runeword)
Weapon: Femur of the Prophet (Set)
Body: The Dragon Grave (Set)

Malice Necro is much better than the last time I've played it. And yeah Dream Eater is your main skill now even it's for farming because huge damage and leech. But with Boneyard you should be still able to kill Akarat with just TU gear at lvl 120+ (without using any set or SU ofcourse).

I've tested with my necro at lvl 121 with TU gear and have 19k Boneyard (26k Dream Eater). Prob you haven't updated your gear or using wrong TU or wrong skill plain so that's why you have much lower damage.

Congrats on the kill btw.

, and use Veil King/Iron Golem as a tank, not Jinn or totems.

Update:

Much later i have made an unholy caster paladin to test the difficulty of Akarat. At level 111 with my unholy caster set and not many charms or mystic orb upgrading. I pretty much destroyed Akarat in about 10 seconds on my first attempt. This kind of made me sad for Necromancer casters as they have much more difficulty in alot of fights compared to my 2nd class i decided to try. I don't know if i was doing something wrong, but Boneyard seems to not dish out near as much damage as mind flay. I hope if theres something wrong with Necromancer it will get fixed in future updates. I will probably not try Necro caster as much anymore or stick with Paladin to see how far i can get. I did make alot of improvements to my Necro lately like utilizing Veil King and much more life along with 24k DMG Boneyard. But this happened much later after many attempts of Akarat and doing tons of mystic orb upgrades to full set of Celestial Orchard.

Thanks everyone again for feedback

Why can you compare a build with full set and a build with only TU? You even dont use right TU for it & prob bad playstyle beside a wrong skillplain. My fresh Malice Necro can destroy Akarat in 5 secs with just TU gear which ive showed as previous post (vs your 10s kill on full set UHC).

I already said Dream Eater is much better than Boneyard atm because of massive hit it deals and huge healing. Malice Necro is OP for reasons but Im not gonna list all them here. You will realize UHC sucks hard late compare to Malice. You need to play more and pilot, understand the build right or it will be completly shit.

For Akarat, I dont use VK as my meatshield. I use him as target for Bane and Bend The Shadow and bait shit. Usually keep resummoning him a lot.

But well, just play the build which you feel comfortable the most. UHC is a nice build to learn the game.

I couldnt kill him aswell, then i asked for help and some guy joined and oneshotted him. I dont like this boss at all, seems like its a dps check that blocks slower builds from getting that nice charm.

I used to neglect MO's too, especially back in the day when all %spell damage bonuses from items were way higher than now so orbs didn't feel as significant, but they actually do matter a lot. And yeah, Akarat is a dps check for sure - you need to outdamage his heal if he uses it - but a necro should be able to handle it without problems; the real issue seems to exist between the chair and the keyboard tbh.

Well you dont need to outdamage her Inner Fire if you dont let she hit you.

The tip for her is about that, deal as much dmg as you can and run. Even when she gets her immunity shield back, just lure her to the entrance of K3K. There will be some priestess (or whatever name) which will break her immunity shield when you kill them. Kill them there when Akarat is near them and then attack Akarat again.
