Propably because 1.7 patch came out 9.10.2020 so automatically people think next ladder is three months from that.

Don't game companies usually want to have something out for the Christmas period to get people playing it over the holidays?

I guess it's not set in stone though since PoE have delayed their next season from Dec to Jan due to some other game coming out.
