- what strikes me (get it?) about this weapon is that it comes standard with 200% ED and 150% EWD, which is a solid foundation for any physical weapon. In order to reach a cap of 5 FPA we only need ~90% IAS, which seems like it's quite easy especially with charms and a Duncraig trophy. Good damage modifiers, easy-to-reach attack speed cap. But it also has a big ol 40% chance to proc a lvl 50 Blade Spirit summon, which, if we're attacking 5 times per second, is two Blade Spirits per second. These benefit from the summoned minion stats on the sword.

- converts minion damage into deadly strike at a 0.12 ratio (and some defense but I don't think we care too much about that since we'll be a sorc with defensive passives). There are three ways in which this has synergy with Alnair:
* Provides attack speed, which Alnair doesn't.
* Provides deadly strike, which should scale well off a weapon with 200% ED and 150% EWD.
* Alnair itself gives minion damage, so innately increases deadly strike.

The gear at this point is a little less obvious to me. Before we look at that, though, I'd like to mention a significant problem with this build already: melee sorc tree requires an orb, staff, or crystal sword to use the skills. Alnair is a saber, so none of these skills help up. Which brings me to my first big question: What is our primary melee spender? It has to be an oskill, which leads me to believe that a relic (help me out here, I don't know which one is a good one) or a synergistic item would solve the problem. Which leads me to...

I am pretty sure its gonna suck. 123-126 dmg on weapon is just laughable, you are gonna do 0 dmg with it. And if you want summons to do any decent dmg, you need to fully focus on them. Hybrid builds dont really work in this mod.

Yeah. Thats the problem. Deadly strike is for big fat base physical damage. And al nair is all about rapid small stikes and DS is wasted, more or less.

Why does Alnair have to be so shitty. Why would this even be used? Like the idea, but agree, totally hamstrung by Alnair’s damage.

I tried Alnair once with my Shadowfang melee necro who uses charged strike as his main skill and it was quite fun. Very fast kill speed in all the non-uber content. Even in Duncraig it managed pretty well. Did not try and of the harder ubers with Alnair however. :D
