Unholy melee paladin - Lemures
Build creator : Gzeno

*WORK IN PROGRESS*
**Currently working on Destruction/Ubers. Blackroad challenge included.**

Welcome to my guide! Unholy melee paladin - Lemure! If you were looking for an eye candy/fun melee class that is capable of completing most of the game content with pure melee engagments, this build might be worth a try!

The paladin unholy melee tree specialization is very unique, it uses spells that comes out of your melee attacks! The build does not use actual weapon damage to deal with monsters, it uses huge amounts of spell damages that can be easily increased with some of its abilities.

The goal with this guide is to provide you with the most pertinent informations about the the build, which will include :
1 - Pros and Cons with this build
2 - Core gameplay

3 - Leveling process and challenges

4 - Gearing/Skill points through early/mid/end game

6 - Ubers (WIP)

1 - Pros and Cons

PROS :
Very fun!
Very eye-candy!
Fast walking (thanks to superbeast)
Does not requires alot of skill-switch
Leveling/questing is very easy with this build
Huge health pool
High self-heal (without pots but they help alot)
Most ubers are doable as melee (that's the point)
Can farm everything/ubers! (not all bosses)

CONS :
It's a melee build, so we tank everything, which means :
Tank alot of damage
Getting used to be stunlocked
Can't take a half-second break with your screen full of mobs

Most very hard uber bosses are anti-melee jerks.

3 - Leveling process and challenges

Hatred

Act 1
Act 1 is pretty straigth forward, just do the whole thing just like you did in Diablo 2. Make sure to skill yourself with Vessel of Retribution at lvl 2 and max it every 6 levels, all the way until Act 2. Focus on doing Den of Devil quest and Deckard Cain quest and. Grab all the amulet and rings that you come across, sell them, you will need the gold to farm some Gift Boxes. Farm those Grisworld Gift boxes from Grisworld and get yourself those items :

, tier 2 if possible. Make sure you takes jewels and make Jewelwords with socket items, they give very decent bonuses. Kill The Smith, he will drop the Catalyst of Disenchantment. This catalyst is used to disenchant any unwanted uniques, which turn them into arcane shards. Please refer yourself in the documentation>cube recipes for details about Arcane Crystals. https://docs.median-xl.com/doc/items/cube DON'T grab the hammer, you will need the quest reward later. Once you've reach Andariel, you can farm arcane crystals if you want, but I would'nt recommend farming this boss since it will take alot of your time.

Act 2
For Act 2, make sure you have a good amount of armor and go straigth to the Sewers. I recommend NOT taking the shortcut, since the Sewers will give you tons of EXP if you do the whole thing. You should be able of melt everything in there without any trouble. Once that's done, go grab the Halls of the Dead waypoint for later purposes. Again, run the whole Act just like you did in Diablo 2.

Act 3
Nothing special here. Same as Diablo 2. Tho enemies will now have immunities. Hire an abjurer from Act 3 Asheara NPC, this guy will melt anything that it not lightning immune.

Act 4
Nothing too special here, but you should progress carefully at this point. Mobs will start hitting hard and put annoying debuffs on you. If you haven't already, get some resistance Mystic Orbs on your rings/amulet. Izual is immune to cold damage, which is a small problem, but heres how you can deal with him: put a skillpoint to Blood Thorn, it should be enough to kill him in few seconds. Second solution: let your Abjurer deal with him, it will take some time, but Izual will die eventually. Once you reach River of Flames, clear you path until you find the Armorer, kill him, grab the Catalyst of Destruction. Once you get to Diablo, be somewhat prepared. Diablo abilites deal ALOT of damage, however he doesn't have a huge health pool. Make sure you have a TP up and have full potions, then, engage the fight. Kill the adds and focus Diablo only, if you take too much damage, step back a few seconds, heal, then engage him again. He should die fairly quick. Farm Diablo for Arcane Shards/Crystal, upgrade all your TUs to your current level.

BEFORE YOU REACH LVL 50!(challenge level 1)
Before going any further, you will gear yourself for the first challenge, here is what you need :
- Both rings and amulet MOed with 5x flat DR mystic orbs
- Most TU upgraded to tier 4 (maybe not the weapon)
- Have your abjurer with you.
- Make sure you don't level higher than lvl 50, else you cannot get the charm.

The uber location is in Act 2, Halls of the dead. Once you enter the uber, there wont be any ennemies. Run south-west until you find this map : http://i.imgur.com/JW30T40.png. Before entering the area, open up a TP and make sure you kill the Pirate at the entrance of the map, he will give you an Elemental prism. Next, slowly make your way to the bosses that are located on the map I linked you. Each of the 3 Priestess(boss) will drop a Sunstone of Fire/lightning/Cold. Whenever you kill a Priestess, you will have 30 second to cube the Sunstone she dropped with the Elemental prism. Do this with all 3 bosses and the charm will be completed. Challenge complete!

Act 5
Now that your first challenge is over, Act 5 should not be a problem. Make sure you complete the Anya quest, and cube the resistance scroll with your brand new Elemental Prism charm. You should be able to facetank ancients without any problem. Your way to Baal should also easy. As for Baal, engage him like you did with Diablo. Make a TP, engage, if you take too much damage, step back, heal, engage again, he should die within a minute.

Now that Baal is dead, you are ready to jump into Terror difficulty.

Terror

In terror difficulty, just like in Diablo 2, your resistances with drop by 50%. For Act 1, its not a big deal.

Act 1
Same as Hatred difficulty, do the important quests. Keep in mind that monsters now deal alot more damage, don't let yourself get swarmed.

BEFORE YOU REACH LVL 80!(challenge,*not really*, ennead challenge)
The second challenge is easy to complete, here's what you need:
- A jewel
- Your class charm
- Be level 80 and below

To get you class charm:
First, make sure you leave Terror and create a new game on Hatred difficulty. Second, TP to Act 3 and run south until you find an entrance to Torajan Jungles. Get in, there should be a red portal close to you, take that red portal. You will find yourself in the Kurast 3000 uber (https://docs.median-xl.com/doc/quests/kehjistan#k3k) At your level, this uber shouldn't be too difficult to handle. Your objective is to kill the Necromancers that are located in each corner of the map, they will each drop a random class charm. To kill them(and the skeletons), you have to destroy all the nearby Totems that are scattered around the map. Warning : make sure you don't get completely swarmed by the army of skeletons, if they sucessfully block you, you might just end up dead.

Farm the uber until you find your paladin class charm, cube it with the jewel from your inventory. Ennead Challenge complete!

Before you carry on your journey on Terror, Kurast 3000 is a perfect place to farm Perfect Gems for resistances, make sure your grab yourself some Bloodstone/Turquoise/Onyx/Amber! You will need them before going further into Terror!

Act 2
Nothing to say here, make sure you fully clear the sewers for maximum EXP.

If you farmed some of those resistances gems like I suggested, you shouldn't have a hard time completing the act!

BEFORE YOU REACH LVL 90!(challenge level 2)
Once you are done with Act 2, prepare yourself for your next challenge, here's what you need:
- A perfect gem
- Your class charm
- You can easily get one-shot KOed, make sure you have plenty of TPs

To get to the uber, you can simply find the Flayer Jungle waypoint, since the uber is in the Swampy Pit. The uber entrance can be found in the third level of the Swampy Pit.(https://docs.median-xl.com/doc/quests/kehjistan#dp) Once you are in the Prouving Grounds,(http://median-xl.wikia.com/wiki/File:The_Proving_Grounds_Map.png) make sure you use a TP and run your way to the Death Projector that is located on the map(link). You will notice two things:
- Untargetable enemies (Mechanics). They hit hard.
- The Death Projector will start to shoot a lightning beam that slowly rotates. This bean will one shot you if you don't dodge it.

The Death Projector is your target. The trick to not die is simple. Get near the projector, take cover, don't get hit by the enemies too much and once the projector's beam made a full 360(around 7 seconds), he will not shot any more beams for atleast 5 seconds. Use that cooldown to attack the projector. Repeat until it's dead. Once the projector is dead, you have 30 seconds to cube your class charm + a perfect gem. Challenge complete!

*WARNING*If you kill the projector while the death beam is rotating, the beam will NOT stop and will kill you if not dodged. If the beam kills you, you will lose your chance complete the challenge. Just leave the game and try again.

Act 3-4-5
Nothing important to mention, except for the fact that enemies will deal more and more damage the more you progress.

Act 4, River of Flames:
Enemies will drop Sacred items(item lvl 99). Keep an eye out for any sacred crystal swords/ancient armor/gauntlets/greaves/blackguard helm/paladin shields. You will need them for crafting.

Destruction

Act 2

Act 3

4 - Gearing/Skill points through early/mid/end game

Speed breakpoints

Once you're done with leveling, your priority will be to get these breakpoints ASAP. WITOUT Rapture.

Attack speed: 151%
Faster hit recovery: 200%

Crafted jewels are required to get you to 200% FHR without MOing every pieces of endgame gear with FHR, else that would be a waste.

Mythal would be the right Proc, thanks for the suggestion, I'll update it soon.

Why not 1 point in scourges in mid game? You need summons to get some charms.

Ill include a skillplanner for each ubers that needs a respec/scourges.

For general gameplay, like farming, scourges arent needed.
