Patch 1.7 changes I've noticed (thus far):
The trap rat is still viable. The new changes to damage, enemy health, and the Druid rework have done it some good.
For one, the skills have changed and moved around. At 119 thus far my skills look (and will likely be) like this:
Trap Rat tree:

Trap rat form - 25pts atm, will smax
Quill storm (main attack for multitargets/mobs/farming) - 24pts atm, will smax in intervals of 10 (caps at around 30pts meaning 5 targets overall)
Egg trap - 1pt
Ferocity - 22pts currently, it seems to hit diminishing returns rather early, will likely smax but maybe not--will need more time to experiment with this and report back
Thorn Wall - 10pts here - single target attack/for bossing/long range killing (example: stormeye totems in k3kba)

Mythal - 1pt, and 1pt moving forward. The only benefit to adding more points here is the reduced cooldown at -0.2 seconds for every 1pt in the skill, with a minimum of 5 seconds (comes out to around 20 points into the skill). I use Mythal now more than before (2 patches ago when I played trap rat) and currently don't see a benefit to adding more points here--if I'm wrong or if experimentation proves otherwise, I'll revise this accordingly.
Symbiosis - 4pts now, 4pts moving forward (the max). See the skill "Elvensong" above for more info.

Faerie Fire - 10pts currently, smax'ing moving forward. This is where things get tricky because depending on our needs we may need to respec in favor of Vine Companion. A note on the labbing setup: it will not be the
Henchmen Trophies
set as it's undergone some nerfs over the last 2 patches. The set isn't completely useless so it might work out (will have to experiment more here and share my findings). Generally we'll want to prioritize our breakpoints, maximum elemental resists (particularly fire, cold, and lightning--want to get 90% as our maxes here), physical resist (50% is the cap however the Erinys debuff deals -10% to physical resist so maybe 60% physical resist could make us quite resilient despite the debuff).Henchmen Trophies
