Hello and Greetings to all of you. Are u Interested using melee Barb? If Yes, This guide just for u. Its a been a long time I have decided to do the guide but not in the mood yet but now I have inspiration and mood to do it. This Build using 2-hand axe as main weapon and ancient hand and stormblast skill as main skill. Getting a merc is good using this Build. Try Read Act 5 Merc guide for more information.

Reason to play this Build
1. It easy build for a newbie.
2. Need less requirement item to do much ubers.
3. Medium farming speed with cheap equipment.

Final Stat

More Str More Power. All point to the str since the other stat already sufficient enough given by charms and skill set.

Final Skill

The skill point distribution is focus on overall situation either doing farming, or doing ubers. Add Point into Spirit Walk is good when u having merc by your side. RuneMaster combined with Spirit Guide and Bear Stance will having about 1M-2M def which can help u tank most uber effectively. High points on Bear Stance and Spirit Guide will give huge amount of damage. 20 Point to fortress is for some uber that need range attack.(U cant use Fortress while using Bear Stance so u need change other stance).

20 point fortress, 20 point into lion stance for some uber that need magic damage or u need some high damage on bosses or even farming if u powerful enough to tank.

Early Game

Before u read this, Please Read and Use the Documentation as guide too. https://docs.median-xl.com/

In Early game your main skill on left is using Earthquake, Thunderslam ,IceBlast and Stormblast. On right skill is mainly Bear Stance for killing and tanking and Wolf Stance for speed.
Ok lets get started. So u already have recruited barb. Get lvl 5 and lets do some challenge.

Stat Point Destribution:
10 str
10 energy

Skill Point Distribution:
1st: Earthquake
2nd: Lion Stance
3rd: Wolf companion
4th: Guardian Spirit

Equip left skill Earthquake Right Skill Lion Stance and play merry go round with the Volrath. Kill all the traps 1st then the boss. After u kill the boss grab the gem and the chipped gem and cube it together. Try get 10+ stat if u not lazy enough.

Now its time venture forth and lvl up until u get gift box from griswold in tristram. U need to farm that gift box until u get at least a valaska tiered 1 unique but if u got tiered 2 is much better. Put all stat into str if u dont have enough requirement to equip it. After done farming gift box, lets move onwards. Pick all rune u can get. Use the rune to equip throw weapon that sell in the shop and sell it back to get huge money to help u to mystic orb your equipment or rerolling item..Try get maximum resistance at all time to increase more survivability. Continue until act 5 and complete quest 2 to have merc act 5 to help u in Sunstone Quest.

Preparation of Sunstone Quest

When u in act 5 u might in lvl 35-50. Try get at least lvl 42-50 to do this quest. Find all strong equipment and reroll and MO some Enchanted Defence(ED) since this quest in high def.Reset your stat if u need too. Here some recommended stat point and skill point distribution.

Read Docu for more info on how to do this quest.When u avoiding the arrows dont RUN. but WALK since running makes your defence=0 and will hit by arrow much more. Be careful when killing the boss since it got chance to cast tremor that reduce your health about 10%. Use StormBlast or IceBlast for quick kill.

Preparation of Ennead Quest

When u In Terror act 2 your lvl might 70-80 and u ready for ennead quest.Find all strong equipment and reroll for good stat and MO some ED since this quest need high def.

Same as before and only focus on priority skill
Priority maxing skill:
1st: Bear Stance
2nd: Spirit Guide
3rd: Ice Blast
Balanced skill point can put in Mountain King.

Your Bear Stance pierce physical damage on Undead. So If u find hard to kill the totem with all the skeleton in the way, u can kill the skeleton while it still having his immunity using shower of rock with bear stance. Be careful while approaching the boss since he can cast Miasma which poison and slows and Nightmare which slows and stop your regeneration. Make tp near the boss to escape while having low health.

Preparation of Binding of Baal Quest

U must get Valley of Snake in Act 2 Terror before lvl 90 to do this quest.This quest is u just need a high resistance in fire,cold and lightning. Use any tier gloves , boots or belt and make it honorific item. Cube MO resistance to max limit which is 155%.Try get total of 325% res fire,cold and lightning in equipment to ensure higher survivalbility since the enemy pierce 200% res.

After u done the quest, venture forth to destruction. Pick up shrine and Strong Sacred item to craft later on.

Suggestion Gear

This Gear optimize on doing quest and going all the way to destruction.Try find any tiered item that u want and change into tiered unique(TU) item. Also increase it tier while progressing too. Look into documentation at cube recipe section if u dont know how.(All best equipment sort out by order).

Summarize: The Early Game build main objective is to go into destruction difficulty easier.

Mid Game

This when u already lvl 120 and already in destruction difficulty. U can still clear destruction using the Early Game equipment but it will a bit difficult. Your main Skill is now shifted to Ancient Hand(oskill from barb helm) and StormBlast.

Preparation of Before Entering Destruction

If u find difficult to clear destruction, try follow this instruction. It may help u too ease up to clear the destruction difficulty.

2.Finish BlackRoad Challange
3.Find Strong Equipment : Instead of depends on Tiered Unique Item, time to move on into strong sacred crafted item.(Check on Mid Game Gear Suggestion)
4.Reset Your Stat and Follow below recommended Stat and skill point distribution.

Stat Point

In Early Destruction u lack of stat point and charm which u need gather later on to become strong. Thus stat point distribution mainly focus on vitality for survival.

Strength:Enough for equipment or add more for damage.
Dexterity:50-100
Vitality:All the rest(Get at least average 8k-13k hp)
Energy:None

Skill Point

The skill point distribution is focus on overall situation either doing farming, or doing ubers.

Comments:
1.Need Fortress skill for some ubers or need some range attack situation.
2.Max RuneMaster.
3.Max Bear Stance at least 50% damage reduction
4.Max Spirit Guide.

The skill point distribution is focus on overall situation either doing farming, or doing ubers. Add Point into Spirit Walk is good when u having merc by your side. RuneMaster combined with Spirit Guide and Bear Stance will having about 1M-2M def which can help u tank most uber effectively. High points on Bear Stance and Spirit Guide will give huge amount of damage. 20 Point to fortress is for some uber that need range attack.(U cant use Fortress while using Bear Stance so u need change other stance).

Suggestion Gear.

This Gear optimize on doing ubers and farming utility.U need to get at least 100% -ene fire res in total to get double damage most enemy using Ancient Hand skill.In addition, -ene light is second priority for StormBlast Skill since u only use this skill if the enemy immune to fire.(All best equipment sort out by order)

U might need dragon reroll 1st to get a good roll before crafting

Reequip back your Gear after apply buff and happy farming.Use Elixir of Power to enchant its power and duration much more.

After u lure u teleport into the main room making the minion stays in the small room. Run and make tp at the most bottom. Make sure u use thunderslam on crystal ball to stun enemy surrounding and the cleric and makes the kill in 3 second.If not go back to tp.

7. Vizjun: Using Merc can make this uber easier. U have 2 choice, either Run all the way to boss using wolf stance or force the way through using bear stance.
1.Using Wolf stance: U need luck hoping not too much monster spawn in the way and use thunderslam when too crowded. melee the boss and purify. grab the charm fast and go back town.
2.Using Bear Stance: U kill enemy who interrupt u or those who stop your way to the boss. Becareful with the mines and stop movement when hitting 1 of the mines and heal back your life 1st then moves on. Just to sure u lucky enough not getting hit by the nuclear strike.

2.Clear the Cathedral 1st. Summon the Edryems in inner and wait for the 1st boss to appear then run to the cathedral and make sure u remember what boss that appear in inner cloister. Lure the Edryem which the one that have some armor on his body into cathedral then wait for another boss appear in cathedral.If u see different boss appear in cathedral quickly kill it and go back inner to kill another one and go back town and cube it fast.

1. Kurast 3000 BA :Using Merc can make this uber easier. Same Strategy as Ennead Quest.

2.Island of the Sunless Sea :Using Merc can make this uber easier. Use Fortress to kill the minion and malic far away to avoid slow killing bolts.For Lucion, Use fortress to kill surrounding minion before melee him to avoid getting surrounded by minion . Use Fortress while using either kraken(if got) or lion stance (if put alot) or just wolf stance.

3. Khalimgrad:Using Merc can make this uber easier. Its quite easy with your high def and just avoid the punisher. If u find hard it hard, just kill the avatar near the entrance.

4. Tran Athulua : Using Merc can make this uber easier. Your high def and Damage Reduction(DR) can tank most of the arrow.

5. Fauztinville: Using Merc can make this uber easier. Your high def and Damage Reduction(DR) can tank most of the necrobots and harpylisk projectile.

6.The Triune : U can tank much in this uber but becareful with the meteor. The boss is hard to do using this build even end game equipment.

7.The Unformed Land :Using Merc can make this uber easier. Its kinda hard to farm sewer using this build but can be done. U can use Lion Stance and Fortress to make the kill easier. Try avoid getting hit too much projectile.The boss Terul is very ez, just hit him until he die.

8. Kingdom of Shadow : Use Merc to make him tanking the zombie a bit. U need rings and amulet MO with poison length red. and boots with Per Turq. High def and high poi res will help a lot in this uber.

9.Ghosts of Old Bremmtown:Using Merc can make this uber easier.Cast a Summon in front of u and make the monster appear and thunderslam it and kill it. Repeat the process until the boss. Be careful of the boss which summon Death Spiral.

10. Duncraig: U can tank the Slain Soul but not the barrel. Avoid the barrel by using tp or run away quickly.The boss assur pierce fire res. So u might need high fire res to make it easier.

11.Yshari Sanctum: Never attempt but possible to do using this build.

12.Wretched Hive: U need rings and amulet MO with poison length red and craft or honorific boots with 155% poison res + 4 per Turq. Same boots used in Kingdom of Shadows Uber. In 1st floor u cant heal. If your health low just tp quickly.Go to 3rd floor and find the boss. The boss main threat is the curse which low your fire res that make u easily killed when u get hit by his fire skill. His Life kinda a lot . It takes kinda long to kill him.

Heroic .

1. Bull Prince Rodeo: Tank him in 90 degree wall to avoid getting killed by the herde of cow.

2.Quov Tsin: Use honorific gloves, belts or boots and make 155% max cap res .using MO. Put Perfect Gem In that boots which give res in fire,cold,light. The enemy pierce 200% res, thus getting total of 375% res will make it easier.Use Fortress to kill him using stance on either kraken(if got) or lion stance (if put alot) or just wolf stance.

3.Belial: U need make tp near entrance of Icy Cellar in Icy Cellar. Lure the boss and near the tp and go back town. After that go ancient way wp and go near entrance of icy cellar. Make a lot of summons and ready to enter icy cellar and hit the boss in few seconds and run away with the tp which already set up. Repeat the process until he's dead.

4. Athulua: Keep Hitting her until she's dead. Just be sure u have a lot of potion standby since your health always gonna be low with the tremor cast by the rat on death.

5. Astrogha: This Uber need high damage to make it a bit easier since u gonna sometime hit the trap which gonna heal him back full life. U need at least crafted labrys with high damage or SU labrys and some buff of motw and -ene fire res 150-199 in total.U need a bit luck to make him drop fire res a few times without u heal him back. U gonna die a lot in this uber since his gonna cast spiral ice bolt which instant kill u. If your damage is very high he can die in 1 shot after he drop fire res. U can use Lion Stance when melee him to deal more damage if u put a lot of hard skill points on Lion Stance.

6. Kabraxis: U need at least SU Light Belt Endless loop to do this uber. Just melee him like usual but u gonna be teleported a lot of time and need drink a lot of potion.
The Elemental :
Fire: Use Ancient hand
Cold : Use IceBlast
Light: Use StormBlast:
Stone/Physical: Use Shower of Rocks or Fortress. The Boss better use fortress only to avoid getting killed by his broadside skill.
Magic: U need to have a lot hard skill points into lion stance to make this thing easier. Use Lion Stance, Shower of Rock and Fortress.

try to resume at 1 or 2 of the best gearing options instead of making a long list of all viable things you could use . it may be confusing for people with not much experience . people don't care about 3rd or 4th best options

so what gear did you actualy use when you played this build and decided to make a guide about it ?

going for maxed spirit guide + 24 points into bear stance + maxed runemaster is a waste of skill points . you don't need to max all 3 to have godlike defence . i'd gor for 1-pointer runemaster and put the other 20-ish points somwehere else or max Nephalem weapons for more damage instead . or since you can gain damage reduction from charms and lucky'd gear you may spend less points into bear stance for end game

Having 5-6 gear options at every spot does make it very difficult to read, especially with all the colors. Use item tags more often if possible instead of writing Eth SU Labrys, SU Labrys, SSU Labrys, etc

will make it a bit cleaner for people to read.

full str while not using lion stance is also a waste . either split them 50%/50% or go full vitality instead . your extra damage / point into str is not that amazing if you're not using lion stance along with it .

your early and mid game also lacks attack rating by judging the stat investment and 1-pointer deadlus .

you always have more than one option , but nobody cares about those , since you can pick by youreself from something you consider usefull just by looking at the docs ; the goal is to socket what is the best and reach the highest efficiency (this is the only thing that matters) .

also , if we're not including the end game gearing where some SU's may be hard to find , reason why you can have more than 1 or 2 viable options , the early and mid sections can resume to no more than 2 options since they can all be accesed quite easy just by farming for consumables (runes/shrines/arcane crystals) /re-rolling rares/crafts .



at this point the guide needs some more work .
