Introduction
The Unholy Melee Paladin is an unique melee caster build, with its damage scaling off Vitality. The class mechanics let us stack Vitality to boost our damage and sustain to great levels. Most of the content can be done wearing Tiered Uniques.



STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
For:
  • Massive health pool combined with great sustain allows you to ignore many mechanics and right click bosses to death.
  • Innate fire + cold pierce from skill tree, tied to max hp. Can cap pierce (170 for bosses) in TU's.
  • Built in teleport, full screen freeze on a 3 second timer.
Against:
  • Has to recast buffs often.
  • Needs to beat boss defense for sustain.
  • Won't get away without crafting jewels at some point.



HOW TO PLAY
Buff up. Preferably starting with Superbeast, because it has much better FCR frames. Kill with Blood Thorns. Later on use Divine Apparition to reposition/avoid mechanics.

SKILLS
There are many possible skill builds. Some choices are tied to your current combat speeds which are tied to breakpoints. Uber quest progression build also calls for different choice than farming build.

Below a general purpose build focused on progressing uber quests in Tiered Uniques:

    Meditation: 0-3 - helps early on with sustain.

    Specialization: 0-10 - scales great with Sanguine Covenant. Might be worth it at 135+.

PROGRESSION TIPS
After defeating Baal on Nightmare the tutorial part of the game ends, and the real challenge begins. Below are some things to keep in mind:

    Get 400 stat signets from Hell Nihlathak once youre comfortable running him. He can also drop SU's and Set pieces

    Pick up jewels, you will need around 32 jewels to eventually fill all your slots.

    Pick up shrines for crafting gear. Fascinating are best, with Eerie and Quiet being second.

    As you become gold capped, spend gold on crafting jewels. Consult this page for jewelcrafting: https://docs.median-xl.com/doc/items/cube#idx6 The best modifier for UHM in most cases should be +(4 to 8) Spell Focus

    The best feature is the drop notifier and loot filter. Never again miss a drop.

    Look out for Rare Sacred Bases for future crafting. Its best to have two or three of each: Sacred Crystal Sword, Sacred Quilted Armor, Sacred Leather Gloves, Sacred Sash, Sacred Blackguard helmet. You can use Charsi Imbue quest reward to turn any Magical item into Rare

good job so far . but it will need "a leveling / uber walkthrough" , else it's not more than a miniguide . you may also consider including one more skillplan for before level 90 (early game) when maxing the grim presence does not help at all and may stay as 1-pointer while maxing another skill . it may be usefull for those who start to play as unholy melee from level 1

Very nice to see another UHM guide. Let me go through a few things in the endgame item guide:

Weapon:
Wow, I need to get the
Ensi (Xis)
choice you mentioned. That one looks perfect for farming. Other than that, is the fire damage from Dux Infernum really that strong so it becomes BIS for bosses? Will try it since I have it.

Armor:
Another Xis choice I didn't realize,
Victory (Xis)
looks really nice for farming, even more so than shrine crafts.

Gloves:
Wouldn't a +2 pala craft with EF, spell damage, vitality be the 2nd or 3rd best choice? I realize with Radiance the Xis one is superior.

Switch:
I'd recommend

so in endgame its better to go full fire dmg so as main attack blood thorns or can i also still go lemure?

thx anyway^^ im atm with full malthael and the set is too op lol

The general consensus is that blood thorns beat lemures overall. perhaps they could even match its single target damage on bigger hitbox bosses

What do you think, Holy Lance (10 attack speed modifier, 3 range) vs. Tepoztopilli (20 attack speed modifier, 5 range) for the Ensi RW? How notable is the melee range? Because getting 5 frame would need some investment with Tepoztopilli.

It gives pierce, but the pierce cap is 200 afaik. And that isn't hard to get like the guide says.
