Breakpoints and Acronyms

A breakpoint is the point at which adding a stat to your character has little or no effect. A prime example of this is attack speed. After a certain point, the amount of attack speed needed to have your character attack just one frame faster is unattainable, or stupidly high. The same holds true for hit recovery, block speed, and cast speed. As a Werebear, all we care about is Attack Speed, Block Speed (when we are using a shield) and Hit Recovery. As you play, do what you can to make sure that you meet these breakpoints:

How to play:
As you level, focus first on the Werebear tree, putting points into the corruption tree when you can’t put them into the Werebear tree. Always make sure that you have Mark of the Wild (innate skill) active. Rend will be your bread and butter here, as this is your only skill that gives Life Leech. Once you get acid fiends, make sure to use them. Not only do they absorb some damage and deal a decent amount as well, but their aura is a massive boost. Use Idol of Scosglen pretty much whenever you would like at this stage. The damage on it is really nothing to write home about, but the movement and defensive buff it gives you may just save your life a time or two. As with any build, make sure to keep your gear upgraded and your resistances high. Many new players that complain about dying typically struggle because they lack resistances. Also, be sure to add Oil of Luck to your gear in the hopes of getting some extra bonuses! Lastly, once you get to Act 5, get a Mercenary. I personally don't use them, simply because I forget to, but they can be a huge help.
Where to get early game gear/money:
Gearing can be intimidating for many new players, but it doesn’t need to be. In the beginning, just use the best thing that drops. Once you get to Mephisto (Act 3- drops 2 uniques each time) or to Nihlathak (Act 5- drops 3 uniques each time), you can kill these bosses over and over again for uniques. These become arcane crystals that can be used to upgrade or even create the items you need (if the bosses didn’t drop what you needed). Two Arcane Crystals + Oil of Enhancement + item will make the item unique. Let’s do an example. In the gear guide, I recommend the Edge of Extinction Giant Axe. If I put a white, grey, blue, or yellow giant axe into the cube with 2 crystals and 1 oil of enhancement, it will become the Edge of Extinction. You can do this with all of your gear. As for honorific items, take any blue item and add it with a Mark of Infusion (drops from the first boss in Act 5) to make that item honorific. I will try to make some crafting videos in the future and will post them here as I make them. As for money, just playing the game at this point is the best way to get money.

How to play:
As you level, focus first on the Werebear tree, putting points into the corruption tree when you can’t put them into the Werebear tree. Always make sure that you have Mark of the Wild (innate skill) active. Rend will be your bread and butter here, as this is your only skill that gives Life Leech. Once you get acid fiends, make sure to use them. Not only do they absorb some damage and deal a decent amount as well, but their aura is a massive boost. Use Idol of Scosglen pretty much whenever you would like at this stage. The damage on it is really nothing to write home about, but the movement and defensive buff it gives you may just save your life a time or two. As with any build, make sure to keep your gear upgraded and your resistances high. Many new players that complain about dying typically struggle because they lack resistances. Also, be sure to add Oil of Luck to your gear in the hopes of getting some extra bonuses! Lastly, once you get to Act 5, get a Mercenary. I personally don't use them, simply because I forget to, but they can be a huge help.
Where to get early game gear/money:
Gearing can be intimidating for many new players, but it doesn’t need to be. In the beginning, just use the best thing that drops. Once you get to Mephisto (Act 3- drops 2 uniques each time) or to Nihlathak (Act 5- drops 3 uniques each time), you can kill these bosses over and over again for uniques. These become arcane crystals that can be used to upgrade or even create the items you need (if the bosses didn’t drop what you needed). Two Arcane Crystals + Oil of Enhancement + item will make the item unique. Let’s do an example. In the gear guide, I recommend the Edge of Extinction Giant Axe. If I put a white, grey, blue, or yellow giant axe into the cube with 2 crystals and 1 oil of enhancement, it will become the Edge of Extinction. You can do this with all of your gear. As for honorific items, take any blue item and add it with a Mark of Infusion (drops from the first boss in Act 5) to make that item honorific. I will try to make some crafting videos in the future and will post them here as I make them. As for money, just playing the game at this point is the best way to get money.

How to play:

The only real difference is that the Idol of Scosglen should have a near-permanent uptime as each hardpoint has been reducing the cooldown. If you find that some bosses are stubborn in their refusal to die, use mythal on them. We haven’t touched this skill up to this point in the game, mainly because everything died too fast to even bother casting it. If you are still struggling, chances are you are under-geared or playing the character wrong. Melee characters need to be aggressive and fast. Do not wait around for your summons to do the work for you and don’t be timid in your approach. You need to start leeching life as soon as possible and that only happens when you start attacking. If you are under-geared, take the time to get your gear up to par. Farm for arcane crystals to upteir your early game gear and craft jewels. Make sure you are upgrading with mystic orbs. As you find better gear, be sure to use it. Getting a full set may take some time and it is okay to substitute items until you find something better. Don’t be so rigid in following the gear guides that you refuse to use an item that is clearly better than the one you have, simply because it isn’t listed. If you are using an early game weapon to farm for example, and a Sacred Unique drops but it is not the one I have listed, chances are it is still better than what you are using, so use it! This sounds ridiculous but I have seen this rigid mindset. The point I am attempting to make is that it is okay to deviate and adapt based on your needs.

Where to get endgame gear:
You likely had several Sacred Uniques drop in Kurast 3000 BA and think this is a good place to farm for your endgame gear. You would be wrong. Sacred Uniques have different rarety qualities. SU is the lowest rarity, while SSSU/SSSSU is the rarest (It’s a stupid system of classification, I know). In order to get a sacred unique beyond that first rarity, you need to be in a 120+ Uber level. Spoiler alert, most of our endgame gear is beyond that first rarity. With that being said, if you want your great endgame gear, you need to be farming in places like Duncraig, Fauztinville, and the Dimensional Labyrinth.
