Disclaimer: This is not a starter build, There are many ways to level a barb and i will leave that up to you. I will show you multiple Gearing options and suggestions to push your character to the absolute maximum. If you have a certain playstyle you prefer by all means go for it, I am not suggesting that my way is the only way to make this character.

I understand that it is confusing because your damage went down but there is no reason to panic. Think of the past week as a free "bonus" where you were doing more damage for free.
General playstyle and what to expect
Warcry barb is what you honestly expect it to be, solid aoe coverage,big defense and most importantly a very solid all around character. There are multiple different setups that can be used depending on your playstyle. Cheap budget variants will still land you doing all content in the game with ease and investing into this character will enable you to do some of the highest rifts and content in the game. Warcry makes solo farming a complete joke, i highly reccomend you join multiple player games for the huge increase in drops and xp!

Getting cast speed on gear is not needed, since we smax wolf companion, we have 7-8 wolfs at all times. Spirit guide gives us 130-195% FCR while a wolf is near us, With only one point in Spirit guide its more than enough to cap our FCR at 7FPA with no investment. Keep in mind that you only get the fcr bonus while in combat and not in town. Fhr is also not a problem because we only aim for 86 FHR for 3FPA, This is done by one point in immortal and gear/charms. investing FHR onto gear to hit 280 for 2FPA is NOT needed.



SMAX - Wolf Companion | Mountain King | Blood Hatred

Warcry is unique in the fact that it can CRIT, You gain 2% base critical strike chance per base level in wolf companion,10% critical damage per base point in blood hatred and 5% warcry damage per mountain king base level. This is why we smax all three!

How to briefly use d2stats Notifier: Download d2stats reader from the Tools section under game at the very top of the forum page. Its honestly really easy all you need to figure out is the base item you want to find and the tier of that item. Capital letters do matter! For example.
"Bronze Sword" - Would show you every type and tier of bronze sword possible.
"Bronze Sword" normal 1 - Would only show you a white tier 1.
"Bronze Sword" Superior 1 - Would only show superior tier 1.
"Bronze Sword" Magic 1 - would only show you a blue tier 1.
"Bronze Sword" rare 1 - Shows you a rare Tier 1.

I would post a endgame filter aswell but honestly it comes down to personal preference alot of the time. Add # where you want them or where you dont. This filter was made by a user named Marcel who is a good buddy of mine and he made a full filter that is very easy to use once you hit hell + .

Early Game leveling

We will be leveling as a barbarian summoner and then transitioning into warcry whenever you can get your hands on the gear. Every type of summoner early on will make lvl 1-90 feel freaking amazing.

Once you start progressing Make your tiered unique weapons first then the helmet, To make a tiered unique you need 2 full arcane crystals + Oil of Enhancement + the Base item in our case (Bronze Sword) Cube them all together to make the unique tiered sword. At this point even with one unique sword you should be doing good. Farm Mephisto in act 3 to create your 2nd sword + helm and then progress. Make your way to baal and complete the
Level challenge to acquire your sunstone of the twin seas. Tran athulua is the best spot for gold up to this point which we will need for our honorifics. I try to clear it twice to get enough gold for minion dmg Mystic orbs on all of my honorifics.
*How to craft Honorific Items - Simply find a pair of gloves/boots/belt that are magical (blue) and cube them with the Mark of Infusion. The mark of infusion is found from shenk the overseer in the bloody foothills at the start of act 5. Keep in mind depending on what tier it is (2)(3)(4) will depend on how many sockets you will get when you cube it with your item. Obviously tier (4) will cost more strength to equip the item but it will also give you 4 sockets or 4 rows of potions on the belt.
Skill alocation:
*Shamanic Trance gives our ancient spirits Bonus damage per point of base strength and 1% minion life per 2 points of base strength.
Early on you will use bear stance quite a bit, huge physical resist and defense early makes teleporting on mobs with spirit walk feel good. Once you have the ability to put 7 points into shamanic trance it will give you another +1 max minion this increases the cap of your minions by +1 to ALL of your minions. this is obviously a huge deal. Putting points into shamanic trance without hitting the 7/14/21 breakpoints only gives you increased duration of the trance buff so i try to avoid putting points into that skill until i can get the +1 max minion. You can increase the cap of Max levels with putting hard points into ancient blood. so it becomes a balance of putting points into ancient blood to try and hit your trance breakpoints (7/14/21) ect. Points into mountain king makes equipping gear easier and 1 point wolf stance will give you a nice dps boost at the cost of losing bear stance so its up to you on how you want to play the build.
Mystic orbs & sockets on gear
*Alot of gold is needed but not required! Mystic orb your honorifics first! Dont feel like you have to mystic orb all of your gear early. You want to keep progressing into nightmare/hell asap. obviously the gold drops will increase as you progress in the game.

Once your character is capped on resistance you can take out resists gems and replace them with either Lum runes for MF or Vith Runes for minion damage. Keep in mind socketing in a vith rune after you have mystic orbd your gear will make the item level requirement significantly higher. So i prefer to just use lum runes early on mainly because minions dont need the dmg until lvl 110+ with this setup. once you hit hell you should be level 100. Make sure your resists are capped and keep progressing you should be 105 once you hit a5 hell. At that point i reccomend doing your 105 charms and start farming nithalak for Signets of learning. You will hit level 110 very quickly at this point you can do cow runs and start stacking up all the shrines. Since patch 1.5 cows drops a ton of shrines since they are considered an elite mob. stay in cows till 115. Once you hit 115 i would go to k3k , nice shrine drops still and the opportunity for set items. If you can get your hands on

Points into mountain king makes equipping gear easier and 1 point wolf stance will give you a nice dps boost at the cost of losing bear stance so its up to you on how you want to play the build.

Once your character is capped on resistance you can take out resists gems and replace them with either Lum runes for MF or Vith Runes for minion damage. Keep in mind socketing in a vith rune after you have mystic orbd your gear will make the item level requirement significantly higher. So i prefer to just use lum runes early on mainly because minions dont need the dmg until lvl 110+ with this setup. once you hit hell you should be level 100. Make sure your resists are capped and keep progressing you should be 105 once you hit a5 hell. At that point i reccomend doing your 105 charms and start farming nithalak for Signets of learning. You will hit level 110 very quickly at this point you can do cow runs and start stacking up all the shrines. Since patch 1.5 cows drops a ton of shrines since they are considered an elite mob. stay in cows till 115. Once you hit 115 i would go to k3k , nice shrine drops still and the opportunity for set items. If you can get your hands on

You can farm k3k up to 120 and then do duncraig or keep progressing into the teganze jungle, keep in mind you are trying to switch to Warcry soon. Make sure you have your filter setup with all the sword bases you will need to start crafting. *Potential mistakes to avoid* I've gotten alot of messages regarding feeling squishy early on. The main reason you feel this way is because your total defense is a little low at the moment. Get used to keeping your innate barb skill titans' Fortitude up at all times. It was patched in 1.5 to be a buff rather than an attack. It Now adds bonus maximum life: 6% + 1% per 10 character levels and also adds bonus defense: 10% + 1% per character level. early on max out runemaster + bear stance, Dont worry about adding too many points into immortal early on. It's more important to get your defense high as it is our single biggest Defensive factors. You can also Mo your jewelery for flat defense which when you have as much % defense as we get, Getting flat even on jewelery is very meaningful! Check the mystic orb section above for the order of mos i recommend for jewelery.

*Potential mistakes to avoid* I've gotten alot of messages regarding feeling squishy early on. The main reason you feel this way is because your total defense is a little low at the moment. Get used to keeping your innate barb skill titans' Fortitude up at all times. It was patched in 1.5 to be a buff rather than an attack. It Now adds bonus maximum life: 6% + 1% per 10 character levels and also adds bonus defense: 10% + 1% per character level. early on max out runemaster + bear stance, Dont worry about adding too many points into immortal early on. It's more important to get your defense high as it is our single biggest Defensive factors. You can also Mo your jewelery for flat defense which when you have as much % defense as we get, Getting flat even on jewelery is very meaningful! Check the mystic orb section above for the order of mos i recommend for jewelery.

. It should be noted that +barbarian skill levels does not apply to warcry. Warcry is a O skill so only +ALL skills will apply to the warcry skill. Use any weapons you find with +All skills + spell dmg/PMSD. Early on you want to use just enough strength to wear your gear and dump the rest into energy. Conentrate on getting your defense up by getting solid defense rolls on your gear. since we are using bear stance we get alot of %defense. That means getting a high amount of flat will really scale our total defense early on, which is a very important factor for the build. [1.7] In this patch everything has changed in terms of scaling our damage, Energy scaling seems to not be giving enough benefit to invest into it. so we will only put enough points into energy so we wont have mana problems. The rest goes into Vitality, from my testing you need around a 5k mana pool to sustain. I also recommend benching 25% mana regen to one ring If possible. Find a spot where you are comfortable with your mana cost and sustaining.
Now depending on your gear , level and setup to farm efficently i would dump points into bear stance depending on your physical resistance. Once you cap your phy dr at 50% you then use your extra points into Runemaster. The idea here being, putting extra points into bear stance only gives % defense and you get more per base point into runemaster than bear stance. The ideal defense needed to farm fauntz is 825kish at lvl 140 roughly. The idea is to have enough defense that you are only being hit 5% of the time which is the lowest you can achieve. Gaining more defense after the fact will net you nothing. so once you hit your 5% chance to be hit dump your extra points into immortal. which gives us chance to avoid dmg while standing still.[/i]

Since we use gladiators dominance, we can get more dmg from each socket. Use Zod Rune recipe to craft your jewels ( Zod + AC + Oil of crafting + Jewel)
There are plently of jewel outcomes that will outclass a single hel rune in terms of damage, BIS jewel is probably 4% PMSD/15Focus/1%energy/MF, now craft 20x of these. Goodluck.

Let's Talk about gear choices on this variant, we are focusing on clear speed over raw MF numbers, at a certain point you hit very high diminishing returns on MF and clear speed just becomes king. This variant requires you have nice swords to boost your dps up so that you can still farm multiplayer games. The trade off to getting movement speed is you lose 70% of your total defense, that makes getting LAEK very valuable for sustaining. In my video i didnt use der nebel rings because i was soloing and dps rings are just better. For multi player games of 4+ i would use der nebel rings with this setup.
You may ask is it worth doing this setup over the full MF variant, Imo movement speed is massive the difference in clear times has been very noticeable, And buying a adrenaline rush as a stop gap just didn't feel as good as gladiators dominance. Of course you could use both gladiators dominance and
1.) Dropped Runemaster for Gladiators dominance - 60-75% Movement speed for clearing.
2.) Uses Crafted Jewels over Runes
3.) More Damage + clear speed at the sacrifice of barely any MF. Have over 500+ EZ.

Since we use gladiators dominance, we can get more dmg from each socket. Use Zod Rune recipe to craft your jewels ( Zod + AC + Oil of crafting + Jewel)
There are plently of jewel outcomes that will outclass a single hel rune in terms of damage, BIS jewel is probably 4% PMSD/15Focus/1%energy/MF, now craft 20x of these. Goodluck.

Crafting Warcry barbarian swords can take alot of Shrines before you even see warcry. to start out i would use any shrine you have it does not matter just hit lvl 11+ warcry to get you rolling. The mods you want to look for is Lvl 11 warcry + / Life after each kill / Life stolen per hit/MF. Yes that is right we want life stolen per hit to spawn on the sword. The main reason is
Barbarian swords can only roll poison spell dmg for whatever reason, so that means we have to use enchanted shrines to get phy/magic dmg on them. This means that shrine crafting the highest possible phy/magic roll is 20% from a perfect shrine blessed roll, Leaving us with only 3 additional sources of spell dmg left to get on the sword. you can use the 2% phy/magic mystic orb from the vendor and add another 10% for 20 required levels or you can add 15% life stolen per hit for 20 required lvls and then use
Crafting the correct sword will take time! You will need 5-10 sacred rare swords and 100-200+ shrines. Craft for level 11 warcry +/LAEK/Life stolen per hit/MF. Stop on a sword that has 2/4 of the mods which you want the most. Keep in mind its very hard to hit 3/4 of the most ideal mods. so keeping two and crafting on a new base is the ideal situation imo. I will use a sword i made as an example.

In this case i hit perfect shrine crafted damage 10%, lvl 11 warcry AND 77 LAEK. A very solid starter sword, If i wanted to craft this for endgame. My next step would be to try and get lucky with the oil of Conjuration. If it hits the 40% chance to get 10% spell damage i would continue on crafting this sword. Once it hits the oil of conjuration, It would be 20% phy magic then you shrine bless the sword to add another 4-10% phy/magic damage, To shrine bless a crafted item simply cube the sword with the shrine AND two Full arcane crystals. If the oil of conjuration fails i would recommend putting it to the side and continue crafting on a new base. Keep in mind that there are very few ways to get phy/magic dmg on a sword so in my eyes getting the extra 10% dmg is very worth it and if im honest its fun to min max my characters in these small ways.
Crafting your Endgame swords - Now That you have crafted some swords and you are level 130+ , Here is how i would go about creating your endgame Best in slot. Hopefully at this point you have created a sword with lvl 11+ warcry/LAEK/Lifestolen per hit/MF. In my Endgame setup i use 6x Ghal Runes in each of my weapons. This will raise the base item required level to lvl 100 to weild it. Keep this in mind before you start mystic orbing your sword! At this point your sword should be shrine blessed and have the additional 10% spell damage from the Oil of Conjuration and still be level 100 required! If you were lucky to hit life stolen per hit on your sword whether its 5-15% make sure you have at minimum 15% life stolen per hit on the sword! if you do not have life stolen per hit simply add life stolen per hit mos to it until you hit 15%.

The process behind creating my sword - My sword spawned with level 12 warcry and T1 LAEK with a perfect 10% phy/magic dmg roll. I hit the oil of conjuration for another 10% spell damage and shrine blessed the sword to 26% phy/magic. I did not hit any life stolen per hit so i had to bench 5x 3%life stolen per hit mo's. Which made the sword level required 120. At this point i added the
Obviously the sword can get better than mine, if you hit t1 life stolen per hit you save yourself 20 required levels. Which is massive and allows you to add 2x more

At this point your sword should be shrine blessed and have the additional 10% spell damage from the Oil of Conjuration and still be level 100 required! If you were lucky to hit life stolen per hit on your sword whether its 5-15% make sure you have at minimum 15% life stolen per hit on the sword! if you do not have life stolen per hit simply add life stolen per hit mos to it until you hit 15%.
Arcane Hunger
will then convert the pointless life stolen per hit into BIG spell damage. At the cost of now your weapon is unsocketable and it adds 10 required levels. so make sure whether you are magic finding with lum runes or doing a big dmg setup with ghal runes that you are happy with it being unsocketable! The process behind creating my sword - My sword spawned with level 12 warcry and T1 LAEK with a perfect 10% phy/magic dmg roll. I hit the oil of conjuration for another 10% spell damage and shrine blessed the sword to 26% phy/magic. I did not hit any life stolen per hit so i had to bench 5x 3%life stolen per hit mo's. Which made the sword level required 120. At this point i added the

, bringing the required level to 130 and giving me 51% phy magic dmg. Then i added 1x

Weapons - I talked about how to create them previously in the thread
Gear swap -
Armor - Aim for +2 | 35-40%PMSD | 175%+ED. Other nice stats - Flat physical damage reduction | %Attributes | Flat Energy | FHR. I shall mention that ED on ancient armor is a very huge factor on hitting your defense goal and saving point investment in runemaster. Try to hit ED on your Armor it will help alot!
Helm - Bench the 10% PMSD with the Vendor MO's , For the last 20 requirement levels i suggest leaving it open incase you want to do Endgame rifting.
Boots - Spirit Walkers are expensive and hard to get at times, so once i acquired them i wanted to only put UMO's that would work well with other spell casting characters.
Belt - 10%PMSD - Leave the other 20 lvl requirements alone until you decide if you want to do rifts or not.
Gloves - 10%PMSD | Leave the other requirements levels alone until you decide if you want to do rifts or not.
Rings - Der nebels give us so much survivability and LAEK that i think its the BIS Ring, aim for getting a +1 der nebel and adding 10% PMSD. If you want pure damage aim for the rare ring with +1/25% PMSD OR the biggest dmg ring is a 40% PMSD The darkness set ring. If you do end up getting a huge rolled darkness Bench 10% PMSD for that juicy 50% PMSD ring.
Lets talk about the skills:
Around the time you start to have this amount of gear you should be level 140, Everyones Gear will be different based on the fact that we use 4 crafted slots for our Endgame setup. Your defense will vary based on your crafted rolls. Base your levels off of this, if you are not hitting your 825k defense goal then invest more base points into runemaster. If you are way overcapped on defense then drop some points in runemaster and add more to immortal.

I shall mention that ED on ancient armor is a very huge factor on hitting your defense goal and saving point investment in runemaster. Try to hit ED on your Armor it will help alot!
Helm - Bench the 10% PMSD with the Vendor MO's , For the last 20 requirement levels i suggest leaving it open incase you want to do Endgame rifting.
Boots - Spirit Walkers are expensive and hard to get at times, so once i acquired them i wanted to only put UMO's that would work well with other spell casting characters.
Auriel's Focus
Adds a huge amount of stats for this build. %bonus energy factor is a multiplier on your base EF, which means that it will take less energy to cap your Energy Factor spell damage and thus allows you to put points into Vitality without losing any dmg from Energy Synergy. This is a massive boost to survivability in the endgame.

Rings - Der nebels give us so much survivability and LAEK that i think its the BIS Ring, aim for getting a +1 der nebel and adding 10% PMSD. If you want pure damage aim for the rare ring with +1/25% PMSD OR the biggest dmg ring is a 40% PMSD The darkness set ring. If you do end up getting a huge rolled darkness Bench 10% PMSD for that juicy 50% PMSD ring.
Lets talk about the skills:
Around the time you start to have this amount of gear you should be level 140, Everyones Gear will be different based on the fact that we use 4 crafted slots for our Endgame setup. Your defense will vary based on your crafted rolls. Base your levels off of this, if you are not hitting your 825k defense goal then invest more base points into runemaster. If you are way overcapped on defense then drop some points in runemaster and add more to immortal.

READ* Make sure to max out mountain king asap to help with equipping gear and building your energy. Stat allocating will differ for everyone eventually once you get nice charms with high flat stats.
READ*The main reason to mo gear with 15% all resists is pretty simple, tier 14 maps pierce 100% elemental resists. That means that it takes 160 total resists to cap our resists at 90% Maximum resists normally but for t14 rifts we actually need to hit 260% total resists. The only way i could hit this much resists was from using 1x of each perfect gem in my gloves and mystic orbing several slots with 15% all resists. Keep in mind that in some situations you can be cursed with a lower resistance curse that brings your total resistance down by 30. Which then means you actually need to be at around 290% total resistance for t14+ rifts. Obviously if you plan on farming lower tier rifts you can mystic orb for damage (

Obviously this is a Super endgame goal but it will be 100% worth it. Whenever i drop my dreamflange for a +12wc | 59% PMSD weapon I gain almost a 15% DPS overall Boost. +2 max res neck is very versatile and insanely hard to get so expect to pay alot for one 300-500TG.

Necromancer Exile/Boss - Ez AF just hold warcry till hes dead, sometimes have to kite around the Corpse Explosions cuz they can hurt.
Amazon Exile/Boss - Ez Af just hold warcry , our defense is simply too high for the amazon to do anything to us.
Barbarian Exile/Boss - Ez Af just hold warcry , our defense is simply too high for the barbarian to do anything to us.
Assassin Exile/Boss - depending on the location hes in determines how deadly he can be, stay out of the aoe black circle ability and you will be fine.
Navigator Can be spooky but most of the time easy, stand in the center of the Vortex he spawns and tank the cold meteor skill he uses. We have 31% chance to avoid dmg while standing still and it makes this strat quite viable. if you start to run low on pots just teleport out of the circle dont try to run away into the vortex it hits insanely hard. put more potions on ur belt and repeat the same strat till he's dead
Anomaly - Only spawns in tier 11+ rifts , be cautious of standing still for too long because he uses kabraxis's Fire strike ability. The strategy to this fight is stick and move, hopefully you get him in a nice open spot. If not then jump on him and tap em down then move out of all his big aoe skills. Movement is key!
Phoboss - Only spawns in tier 11+ rifts .Actually very doable, I got him down in a t11 map so far. probably easier than anomaly for this build but you need to know his mechanics or you will get one shot. Keep kiting him is my main strat he has a large aoe cold ability that is very easy to dodge once you see it. Ill try to post a video of the encounter if i run into him again. For the meantime just youtube a phoboss fight to learn the fight.
MY OPINION ON RIFTING - I do want to mention that i think rifts are not rewarding or unique enough to spend this much investment and time to get into. I feel like rifts should be varied focus farm zones. What i mean by this is a tier 1 riftstone should have a drop bias similar to how duncraig has a drop bias of sacred items. imagine if a tier 1 riftstone had a drop bias of sacred items, T2 had a drop bias of Jewels/Tiered uniques ( crafting materials), t3 Had a drop bias of Great runes, t4 had a drop bias of set items. t5 Had a drop bias of cycles, t6 had a drop bias of arcane shards.... ECT ECT. going up in Rift tiers would be immensely worth putting the time and investment to run rifts. There is alot of creative space to consider imo to make rifts truely a fun aspect of median. As it stands its hard to recommend people spend as much time as i did to hit these levels of gear and optimizing to feel really lack luster in t13+ and then get literally zero rewards for all my effort.

-Rapture - S Tier - Movement speed/FHR/Castspeed/attackspeed/block speed all wrapped into a single buff, with this i bet it would be possible to hit our 2 frame FHR breakpoint. Which really isn't needed but would definitely feel great.

-WarCry - S Tier - 4-8 Warcry on a relic turns out to not downscale to +3 warcry even if used on a barbarian because it counts as a O skill and not a barbarian skill. so this means that the potential damage gained from a single relic is crazy. Try to get as many as possible.

-Beacon - S Tier - 50% movement speed, obviously very strong for this build. buff lasts over 3000 seconds at level 34, BIS OFFHAND Relic

-Bane - S Tier - Counts as a Curse , Lowers the resistance of physical damage. Huge Dps buff for the build. WIll help our single target damage out. The curse radius hits the whole screen. downside cant be used in higher tier rifts which are curse immune.

-Vessel of Justice - A Tier - 1237-1480 dmg @ lvl 41 with 454% PMSD. Hits 4 times a second. Pretty strong relilc considering it also rolls 6-8% PMSD on it aswell and since we are always in melee range its always going off.

-Vessel of Retribution - A Tier - I have to assume its very similar damage output to VoJ, works mechanically the same way and should be great to use.

-Lightning Arena- -A Tier - Solid Buff , huge aoe ring goes around you similar to mephisto's skill. If anything is caught in the ring it is perma stunned. Not to mention free 1-2 max lightning resists. This is very nice for a offhand buff relic or a main jewel socket on your gear.

-Brimstone - A Tier - 5% bonus to spell factor is no joke, endgame this has the potential to be a 15-20% damage jewel socket. Pretty big imo.

-PyroBlast A Tier - 5% bonus to spell factor again is no joke, dont underestimate the scaling of the dmg it will provide.

-Feral Strike- B Tier - 10% movement speed for one socket is good in my books and worth it almost all the time.

-Harvesters- -B Tier- - 30% movement speed when the minion is out and you are in his aura range. Kinda nice but since we dont have minion res or minion life they will die quite often. Still might be worth trying to keep them up.
