With 2.0 I wanted to try a straight forward melee char. Started with WW barb but soon realize it's not very high ping friendly. Switched to Werebear druid and had a blast since then.
The last Werebear guide hasn't been maintained in a while, and it got some questionable gear choice imo so I wanna make a new one in hope it would help some other new players like me.
Disclaimer: I'm not a very good player myself, so any critic/guidance is welcome.

Max Ancestral Protection cause each base level of Idol of Scosglen give 30% bonus defense which is pretty good. You can choose to put less point in Idol if you're strap with points
- Ancestral Force: 0
We are not Melee Pally, cant spam button too often can we. Bears have fat fingers. Before 2.0 I kinda dislike the Bear playstyle due to having to cast idol every 5s, and it's still only 80% up time. No way I'm taking this now. Nothing stopping you from taking it tho, beside carpal tunnel maybe.
- Rend: 1 (early game), 5-10 mid game, 10+ endgame
Our main 1 button skill. Rend doesn't scale that amazing with base level. And it increase our mana cost by quite a bit, so beware to not throw too many points more than your mana steal can handle. At late game if you got nothing else to put point in then can dump the rest into Rend.

This is the only slot where we shrine craft so can afford to use 2 imbue rare (a1 quest reward) for 2 axe (for incremental craft, use one and craft one until better, then switch and continue).
Just remember to check d2stat weapon damage section (page 2) to see how much a newly craft actually give compare to your current option. Be mindful of the breakpoint too, as sometimes the weapon has big base number but no AS roll, thus unable to hit certain breakpoint compare to a lower base one with AS.

The 5% extra chance to avoid & Curare (3% max poison res) are awesome defensive bonus. Not to mention the crazy 135% ewd and the fact that it's quite easier for large axe to reach 5 fpa compare to Great Axe and Giant Axe make this set a no brainer option.

a4-5: After weapon I prioritize making the TU boots & gloves, then belt & helm. It doesnt impact much at this point though.
Remember to do the level challenge at Baal.

This area is desync hell, especially when our bear is so fast. And there's no /oos in Median XL. Even though our char is theoretical good here, I was quite frustrate running this thing. Socket Turquoise here and run like hell. When you suddenly keep taking hit while nothing of sort on screen, quick Jitan Gate back (and not forward in case it's out of range of your desync true position). Picking up the charm itself after the king die is also pita.
Judgement Day
An early dps check. You would have a tough time if still using the TU Axe here. Time to craft sth better. Also kill Imperius first.
Bremmtown
Once again ping is an issue. Often the howling spirit do not pounce on your character but some invisible man half screen behind. Well that's because you has lag and they pounce on the true you. Thus you need to spam click not on your screen character (no attack will come because it's out of range and then you just die), but the spirit themselves.
Astrogha
If you own
Turn off Faerie Fire (to not accidentally kill totem), socket some Onyx to tank extra hit from frozen orb, then just bang your head against the wall. Only took me 30 mins and 30 corpses
Spirit World
I'm getting worse at this game. Used to able to kill her with lesser dps char, but I cant seem to do it with the bear . The invisible cunt + melee namelock makes a bad experience.
Nephalem's Sacrafice
This isn't really hard, just tedious when dmg is still low + we're melee and all so dmg up time isnt the best.
The phases leading to Uldyssian are quite trivial. In the Prime Evils phase, Memphisto hurts somewhat, so it's best to drag each of them out separately then go into Diablo melee range and just slap him.
We can tank Edyrem summons no issue and kill them fairly fast. Udy himself is tedious but not dangerous. Just be mindful of the star deathstrike after his 2nd stomp/screenshake.
Invasion III
This fight should not be that hard, but it is due to hit box desync being really dumb. In preparation you should stack up a lot of lightning and fire res.
Now for the fight itself, there are 4 things
1) rotate lightning spire - this spell deals like no dmg so dont need to care about it.
2) lightning circle delay strike - dodge this
3) frozen shambler - fire nova - blue circle:
This start with a pulsing red fire mark on the ground, near the boss - this emits a powerful area wide damaging attack that you will see your HP go down rapidly. Soon after that a frozen shambler spawn with a blue circle. The shambler itself doesnt do much, but the blue circle protects us from the fire nova. Stay inside blue circle until the red fire mark is gone.
4) retaliate-like nova:
A blue mark exactly like 3) spawn, but it's blue this time, and always on the top side of the boss. Soon after many nova that looks like paladin's retaliate will pulse out from the boss, and it will kill you. To dodge this stay in melee range of the boss, on the top side . You will die if you stay at bottom side even in melee range. Even then you sometimes still get hit because you've desync and still on the bottom side of the server
Problem arise when 2) overlap with blue circle or safe melee zone of 4). Or the blue circle hitbox is wonky. Sometimes you still takes invisible fire nova dmg when visually you inside the blue. That means you or the circle is desync, and should move close to exactly where the shambler spawn. It's kinda frustrating dying to fire aura when inside the blue circle, or to retaliate nova when you're in melee range due to desync, when boss is at 25% left ngl ...
Scosglen
2 annoying things in this farming place.
Dryads are much more annoying than Fauzt necrobots, as they have chance to flee just like the vodoo jerks in a3 jungle (I hate the chance to flee mechanics honestly, it's so anti-melee farming)
Etherborns frozen breath hurts, and they're tanky ass-hat. So you can skip these guys, or get much more dmg/cold res. The former is easier to do really.
