I went to Hell with 11k defense without WW. I have 114k now (~267k with WW), but it took some effort.
Having that belt with RM would have alone gave me about 50k more defense, plus WW bonus on top - i.e. about 120-150k from belt alone.

There is a high defense multiplier from WW, Spirit Guide (that I don't use because of unreliability) and Runemaster, but if there is no flat defense, there is nothing to multiply.

I would recommend an Honorific belt in that case.

It would provide less than half as much defense (if shimmering blessed, no reason to go with other shrine) - 150% vs 325%. It's a good option as well, but not as good. There is no specific reason to pursue defense, but Dyaus Pita is easy to make and serves as great padding armor.

It has no offensive stats, and if you MO for 325% ED and 10% psd, which are both required, you get 123 lvlreq, which is not low at all.


Its main upside is high %ED, and belts are very good for defense, unlike boots and gloves.

Little showcase of the similar build in duncraig. No UMO , No relics, just regular gear.

I went max gladiator's dominance and 1 pts - conflux , elemantal overlord and purifying flame to have +3 max resist and 3% life regen per sec since Our physic dmg is crap anyway.

To help survive - crafted crystal sword with life spark + demhe. I feel demhe is much better in boss fights and hight labs. Infected roots with high spell damage gives significant damage. Blacktongue is better to clear trash mobs.

I can clear lab 6-7 pretty smooth

Looks like a lot of fun. Makes me doubt Phys WW again :D However, using the proc from the RW helm does give a more screenwide poison. It doesn't kill fast without very good gear, but it sure makes farming even faster. Last season I was farming P8 Vizjun, Teganze, Dunc, etc. Worked like a treat.

I have tried using Mastery Specialization to put more points into Snack Stance, since it has percentage-based self-synergy, and my damage went from 200k to 250k. Probably doesn't matter much as 200k is enough for most places with enough pierce, possibly makes splash damage a bit better, and boss killing less painful.

For that you have to ditch points from Spirit Guide (not very useful anyway IMO, there is enough %def on this char) and from Mountain King (since we don't use our stats for damage, so the only thing that suffers is vit (and AR from dex a little bit).
I also always max Immortal, since stacking different %based protection sources is always good, because they are multiplicative.

Bottom line: If you really want to use Specialization, you can, by sacrificing a tiny bit of survivability. It pretty much only affects Snack Stance, but you don't really need anything else smaxed anyway.

Due to high str demands for gear - maxing mountain king is a must.

And I think this guide owes to us an explanation - why to craft psn spell dmg everywhere ? Snake stance is a buff and is not affected bu spell damage and amatoxin is a flat psn damage, not a spell ! Yet.... there are whispers.... its an old d2 engine mechanics - spell damage affects direct hitting elemtal damage ( not passive ele buffs !! ) And amatoxin is a direct hitting psn ele damage.

Rotting the flesh proc is what? A spell ?
