In the trinity season everything else looks weak but I want to show you an ele caster Barb that makes proper use of

It has a nice proc and simply screams to you: "Build a str based caster out of me!"
So that's what I did:
I used Avalanche from

1% Chance to cast level 10 Cold Fear on Death Blow
+(80 to 150) Spell Focus

(10 to 20)% to Energy
Elemental Resists +(15 to 25)%
Socketed (4)

as skill, 12 Sur Runes for mana sustain and distributed energy and str so that I end up with 430% Synergy.

the tanking function is the least important of all for an ele caster barb that has Immortal + Bear Stance.
There are way more important reasons to heavily invest into the Spirit tree as an ele caster, especially when it is str based:

• You get 5 Strength Factor to Spell Damage per base point into the Spirit tree from Shamanic Trance that helps a lot capping the Spell Synergy
• You get like 100 ele SD from Protector Spirits Bloodlust in endgame what makes up for more than 20% of my dps
• With base points in str, those summons actually deal some noticeable damage on their own what helps against ele absorbs

is imo the BIS caster Barb weapon for non weapon oskills cause you can build/try whatever element around you want.

how are you dealing with pierce? doesn't seem like you can get to 130 with the gear you are wearing

standard charms + Kab Sleep + Astrophy + Sam Charm = 30 from charms. before that simply replace some Thur with Thai and you are good. Damage is not that much lower ....

They still absorb hits, work as dummy targets, wouldn't underestimate their value whem it comes to increasing your ehp.

way I used to play caster barb was get all synergies, trigger bloodlust from protectors and forget about minions for a whole until next bloodlust was needed to be refreshed
but if they can live, having whole little army with you can do wonders when it comes to taking less hits, especially from ranged attackers

Avalanche wasn't reworked, or was it? At least it looks the same, only change I remember was the removal of the wall abuse.

But I agree, more oskill reworks makes the mod more interesting. And cool video/build mortimer, makes me wonder what other oskills you could use with barb... Apocalypse? Hailstorm for bossing. I always wanted to build Protector/str based barb but never found a proper oskill, now there might be more choices.
