That's just maths really. Given a perimeter, a square with that perimeter will always have greater area than any rectangle with the same perimeter. So, given the choice, it is always better to balance them out. Example :

100dmg * (100% ed) * (300% ewd) = 800dmg
100dmg * (200% ed) * (200% ewd) = 900dmg

(here perimeter would be 800)

That's just maths really. Given a perimeter, a square with that perimeter will always have greater area than any rectangle with the same perimeter. So, given the choice, it is always better to balance them out. Example :

100dmg * (100% ed) * (300% ewd) = 800dmg
100dmg * (200% ed) * (200% ewd) = 900dmg

(here perimeter would be 800)

Well, the mechanic is known by most Vanilla veterans but it wasnt known in MXL working in Elemental weapons , so its the Elemental wep + rw that was unknown not the mechanic itself just because in vanilla you could only make this mechanic work in non weapon gear only . And it works a bit different than vanilla’s because you would have to stack ewd and flat dmg on gear in MXL, in Vanilla you didnt need to do that since you still had big flat dmg from weapon.

but assassin Claws it's not ied weapon,so why Stonefist?

How is it possible to actually get damage with this mechanic?

find runewords with big ED and on top of that big flat phys damage that can put into an IED base.

To really make up for the stat EWD and weapon base damage you need big EWD and flat phys on other gear sources and EWD from skills on your tree.
