Then you factor in the 48% to spell damage gain from the Great Runes and you're getting 88% spell damage (the extra 48% doesn't show when looking at the shield for some reason, but it's there). It would be 100% to spell damage total if it wasn't for the recent reduction per Great Rune from the last patch from 10% each down to 8% each. So it definitely works but the dexterity requirement goes up significantly.
The good news is that Demiurge boosts dexterity way, way up so it's not a problem to have a 1705 dex requirement. That is, as long as you always have Demiurge running.
One last footnote, I did the math on what would happen if you added the orbs in different order and as you can probably guess, you get the same end results.
