Totemic Mastery makes them inherit caster stats from you, everything but cast speed. They do not scale with minion stats, except when you're using Sentinel's Sorrow.

Going with Fireheart is still an option, but I believe frostclaw is much more well rounded for progressing through the early/midgame. Mainly since the rework of 1.7 was huge for it. No travel time, instant hit with small cleave and very good damage scaling.

Thats the idea behind using Celestial Crown and stacking cold SD in the guide. Stacking Cold SD, -enemy cold res, and SF early gives an insane boost to Frostclaw totem. Additionally, that will be the first totem (at least up to ~120 ish) that you will have 3 of.

Also.... the tooltip for Totemic Mastery explains what the totems inherit from you.


Thanks! Its just that inherit tooltip only say "enemy elemental resistances" and "spell damage" so it was unclear to me if it also includes cold component separately.

in early game? spell damage is easy to get and this weapon offers a 2nd TU ancient armor worth of enemy resist. Or is the mana regen more important now that mana costs of totems were increased?

Mana regen is definitely an issue, especially on bosses that decimate the totems, all the way to lategame. It took me a good 1.8 times my mana to get everything up whenever I made the game until I got good gear and high energy at 125ish.

I think I tried it briefly last season, but replacing either Hand of Rathma or Smokeless Fire is tough. Although if you have neither, then it's a different scenario. I just have a hard time seeing a poison totem ever beating frostclaw for bossing or fireheart for clearing.

If you have it, play around with it a little and report back how it feels.

Ye, I had it drop yesterday.

I was mainly thinking about using it for +25% soulbond damage, extra venom totem is just icing on the cake. Truth to be told when I was theorycrafting the build I considered Malevolence and Deckard Cain's Heirloom as extremely good choices as they both seem (in theory at least) to allow you to buff all the totems in a very significant way.

I will test totemancer with Malevolence as soon as my spearzon farms some other gear pieces for him, as for now he is still kinda naked.

Does minion damage also increase damage of our totem? From gear section I imagine not. But then why are we using Tainted Shrines?
