Ok so storm zon's storm call and hammer of zarae both have physical damage in addition to lightning damage so does deadly strike apply to those abilities? also askari lightning pulls its damage off of storm call's damage which has physical damage so does that mean that askari lightning has physical damage and if so does deadly strike apply to that too?

Were you referring to a Barbarian elementalist?

Having fun leveling one is SP. Skill:

ELEMENTAL tree:
Conflux: max
Iron Spiral: increase until no cooldown. Or... just use 1-pointer Earthquake. I find Iron Spiral not as smooth as Earthquake for clearing.
Overload: 1
(The lightning signature skill that increase movement speed): max 5
Deep Freeze: max 5
(The fire signature skill that heal 3%HP/second and reduce poison length): I just put 1 point for the heal, the poison length reduction seems extremely useful in Uber later (like Ureh)
Primordial Strike: max

EARTHSHAKER tree:
Earthquake: 1 - IMO better clearing skill than Iron Spiral. Gives you an edge fighting tougher enemies until level 40 (Primordial Strike requires level 40). Better not fight act bosses using Iron Spiral.
Thunderslam : 1
Leap: 1

NOMAD tree:
Eagle stance: 5 - for the maximum bonus to innate elemental damage it can offer (20%). I keep this on at all times
Primordial hunt: 1
Mountain king and Ancient Blood: I haven't tested both options extensively. But perhaps if using a dex-based build (Crystal sword), Mountain king can be maxed for the extra innate cold damage; if using a strength-based weapons (mammen axe, ono, battle axe), the attack rating from Ancient Blood seems tempting.

I find ele barb can melt almost anything using Primordial Strike during the early game (provided he does not die first). So saving some item slots for attack rating and survival can be viable.



A couple comments on that small guide:

1) eagle stance is a waste of skill points before the end game. 20% IED translates to 5% extra conversion with t1-4 weapons and 8% for sacred. This is a negligible increase in damage unless you have over 2-3k str/dex. On the other hand elementalist is quite squishy, so you'll benefit WAY more from bear stance. The survivability is night and day with bear stance. Also if you go for full dex+crystal sword nephalem spirit is not very useful as it adds light/fire DMG.

2) Your weapon is the least relevant source of damage. I'm literally farming duncraig easily with a random rare sacred throwing axe (which I strongly recommend over Ono and mammen axe because you only need 80 IAS for the max fpa). Also throwing axe unlike the others can spawn on striking procs instead of on attack, which is great because Primordial strike multihits like crazy. It also lets you use a shield which can solve resistance issues and provide even more STR bonuses. Your gear should be entirely concentrated on STR bonuses, so you want

Fair points :mrgreen: . Guess I will switch to Bear Stance asap since ele barb feels squishy as I progress further to Hell. Regarding Nephalem Spirit, I think there is still merit in it if maxing dex though, for a general ele-damage setup at least, since it add Fire + Lightning damage based on Dex too. But of course, if one go for a dedicated cold-pierce vs. fire/lightning-pierce setup, it may get complicated.
