Not only that. I went with 1024x768 for a few reasons.
- Not everyone has big monitors
- AI are totally not meant to support a resolution too high
- The GUI would too look empty because you don't have enough stuff to fill them up (patching the gaps with big ass border is just as ugly)
- Bigger file size (bigger GUI everywhere, results in bigger file size)
- Bigger resolution means more stuff on the screen being drawn and therefore increasing the lag/overflows (on a game that could barely keep it up in 800x600)
- The worldmap becomes so ugly because you totally see outside of levels and see big black zones you aren't meant to see (in 1024x768 it isn't that bad)
