*This guide is getting a complete rework to a fire/Blood Thorn version, while I do like Lemures, Blood Thorn buffs made it very consistent and a very viable choice to bring to the endgame. There's also alot of people liking the playstyle of stacking damage for Divine Apparition, which I have no interest in. Being a meme or not, maybe its best if Lemures gets its own guide version written.*
Big changes with this patch, and very good ones. First, the entire build relies on Vitality to pump its damage, Energy Factor->>> Vitality Factor, exclusively for Unholy melee paladin!

The tree received two new skill and a reworked skill! Grim Presence(replaced Terror Strike) and Possession(replaced Black Sleep). Blood Thorn and Lemures both received buffs to their damage! Hymn is now called Sanguine Convenant and now gives free pierces!

Early game and mid-game gear also has alot of changes that I will update soon, stay tuned.

Welcome to my guide! Unholy melee paladin - Lemure! If you were looking for an eye candy/fun melee class that is capable of completing most of the game content with pure melee engagments, this build might be worth a try!

The paladin unholy melee tree specialization is very unique, it uses spells that comes out of your melee attacks! The build does not use actual weapon damage to deal with monsters, it uses huge amounts of spell damages that can be easily increased with some of its abilities.

The goal with this guide is to provide you with the most pertinent informations about the the build, which will include :

1 - Pros and Cons


PROS :
Very fun!
Fast walking (thanks to superbeast)
Does not requires alot of skill-switch
Leveling/questing is very easy with this build
Huge health pool
High self-heal (without pots but they help alot)
Most ubers are doable as melee (that's the point)
Can farm everything/ubers! (not all bosses)


CONS :
It's a melee build, so we tank everything, which means :
Tank alot of damage
Getting used to be stunlocked
Can't take a half-second break with your screen full of mobs
Most very hard uber bosses are anti-melee jerks.
Alot of crafting investment in endgame.

2 - Core gameplay


How to play this build(general gameplay) :

Skills you will use during combat :

Grim Presence:
Buff thats last 10 minutes, enemies affected by Grim Presence deals less damage, slower attacks, and have redued attack rating. Grim Presence now also empowers Vessel of Justice with fire damage, Divine apparition with cold screen damage and Symphony of Destruction with bonus poison damage. Make sure it's always up, !!otherwise you cannot use Lemures/Blood Thorn!!


Lemures:
Main attack, deals cold damage, high single target damage, and decent AoE.

Blood Thorn:
Main attack, deals consistent AoE fire damage infront of you.


Divine Apparition:(lvl 90 uber skill)
Use to escape and travel fast/through walls.
Empowered : Deals cold damage in a large radius at the targeted location.


Buffs :
Possession:
Passive that increases you hit recovery rate and gives % chance to block projectiles.


Vindicate:
Lasts 30 second, make sure it's always up, huge health regen.


Tainted Blood:
Last long enough, make sure it's always up, huge health regen and bonus defense.


Symphony Of Destruction:
Last long enough, always up. Single target poison damage.


Sanguine Convenant:
60 seconds lasting buff that will heal a certain amount of hp on succesful attacks. Enemies around you get reduced fire and cold resistance equal to 1% of you total HP.


Superbeast:(lvl 90 uber skill)
Morph into a demon, walks much faster, attacks much faster, huge spell damage buff. Always up.

Skill points

At this point of the game, you won't be able to max everything. Skills such as Stormlord and Tainted Blood and Sanquine Convenant will only need 20 points.

The goal is to maximise the the damage of Lemures and making sure we stay as tanky as possible.

Why not 1 point in scourges in mid game? You need summons to get some charms.

Ill include a skillplanner for each ubers that needs a respec/scourges.

For general gameplay, like farming, scourges arent needed.
