That would be easy to implement but marco doesn't want this to be implemented as this would make magic damage just the same as other elemental damages. There's four main "damage classes" in MXL. Elemental (fire/cold/ltng), poison, magic and physical. Implementing pierce to magic damage would be like merging it into the elemental damage class. And I kind of agree with his point, that would basically reduce the variety of damage "styles" which is kind of already limited as it is.
Just reducing a little base magic resistance for enemies in general would work well to make magic damage more interesting. I agree base magic resist on heroics for example is kind of high.
