Auction scamming

Yesterday a guy had a bunch of auctions finish and he shipped all the tg off to other accounts and now he is banned. Is there anything protecting buyers from things like these? Like tracking and returning scammed gold?

I'd like an answer from someone with authority because if the answer is no, I will not bid on anymore auctions

I remember good ol days in diablo LOD where everybody was scaming everybody in every way possible and thinking about how to make new interesting and difrent scams,batman reminds me of those days
