Xp gain is ok and it's not slow. My walkthrough was really smooth and fast. I killed Raven, Griswold, Leoric, Countess and cathedral thing twice just to see if they drop anything different/better than first time. Other than that i just walked through areas killing stuff and it was good. And i still have most of the skills at 1 point and 70 stats free. Its a bit different than multiplayer where you loaded your 8 chars and cheesed it.

i played abit (got to stony field i think) and sorc deal pretty good damage. playing it in sp is pure waste of time, just hack some chars if you want to test skills (and send me then via pm pls, cant rly do it where i am right now :D)

any thoughts on melee assa? seems like build should be: max fade+claw block+claw mastery+charge skill+ finishing skill? There are alot of ele damage skills, but i bet they gonna suck due no ll, so it should be tiger strike+finishing move?

Unless the mod adds in itemization for those elemental charge skills, almost always go tigerstrike + some finisher. I cant recall if it's still in, but also 1 point cobra for a good life and mana heal.

I've noticed with like all the casters is that they deal competent damage, but the mana issues become ridiculous.... unless you pick up a dagger. Is the whole 'every item having an automod' always a thing from HU, or was it this patch? I stopped playing AM partly because of that reason. Unless it's in a staff, wand, or scepter, or the item is renamed or even changed in an image to represent what new affixes it has, it doesen't make sense conceptually. It doesen't add much to the game in variety either, I'm just gonna use a dagger anyway because screw those mana issues, especially when I can't portal to town for more.

I really wish there was a compromise made on the portals, such as making them unusable in certain areas like boss arenas, and usable everywhere else. While it prevents cheese, yes, it heavily slows down the leveling process.

I read around a bit on their forum, seems like the new version is much slower? I also dislike that they went with the "aftermath" effect of giving rare items hundreds of stats that are all like 1-5% effects.

Same with melee skills, you get like 1% damage to your skill every 2 levels? I guess they tried to promote new and more "hybrid" builds, but the problem is they are still using mostly vanilla d2 trees & skills - which means that if you 1 point all your attacks you really don't have anywhere productive to spend the rest of your points in. So what ends up happening is you're still going to supermax those attack skills, except that now you're just going to feel shit doing it. Progressing in levels will feel a lot less exciting if I'm only going to get 1% damage per 2 levels and even more of my character strength will be tied to gear alone.

Also it seems super strange that they have this alternating patch cycle every year where you get something completely different. Would make much more sense if all the modders got together and took the best of their personal ideas into a team project. Not too excited about it overall, but I might give it a try if there's nothing else to play when they reset.

Psst kids, wana play some hui mod ?

I am suprised no one is posting updates from this mod. No one is playing or no one is brave enough to admit the failing in act 1 ? Sad.
Anyways, i found some time and almost completed act 2 today. Most of the trve HUI features are gone: bosses can be solo with help of pots and runing around; mercs are weaker, haven't even noticed if act2 gives aura, no visuals yet. The only nice thing is drops. Regular trash mobs drop white stuff only which is hui, but unique mobs and bosses drop rares + random uniques. Much better than 4 uniques everytime in last version. Gambling is ok, can gamble cycles and rare jewels. The old improved sets are gone, now regular clod sets with max sockets are droping. Very good for start when you socket gambled rare jewels with IAS and resists. Some bugs noticed - random mob corpse on door prevents moving in/out, cannot punch in sockets with crafting materials even though it says it will add sockets to rares.

Some pics. Who played this hui mod will understand whats going on instantly.
