Of course that's in my implementation "wishlist". But I don't even know what's causing the said bug as it is, so for now I would say it will not get fixed. But I would have said the same thing for stuff such as the states limit a few months ago, and see, this limit was removed, so who knows. Although for lag, sigma already features many performance improvements (with more to be implemented), so that should help.

whist, any chance that Sigma will feature instanced loot like d3 does? that would really improve the MP experience as you no longer have to compete for drops

the idea is good, but the environment d2 and d3 have are quite different. In fact in d3 there is no trading and in d2 there is, and instanced loot would have a huge impact in economy, and possibly tons of ways to cheese for extra drops (like 8 player games). In d2, difficulty doesn't scale properly with extra players (monsters only gain 5% damage per player) so you wouldn't expect total drop value to go over 5% (in fact, the not-so-determinant NoDrop factor does an ok job).

Properly scaling difficulty with more players means a huge shift in the game (rip powerleveling).

How about item allocation? Like when some unique item drops, that item is locked on a player unless he/she picks it up and redrop it(as trash or whatever). Kinda like how most MMO, even Path of Exile party allocation setting works.

As Marco mentioned, instanced drops would ruin the economy. Imagine a bad mood ring dropping in a 8 players game. Not to mention I plan on increasing the maximum player count in games. That is, "instanced drops" will only be implemented for stuff such as quest items, some misc items like the character orb or tristram's box, and maybe some low class charms like the butcher.

Totally agree, instanced drops have no place in D2.
D2 is really all about the loot, that instance you manage to out click and grab loot 5 other players are also fighting for is a bit of a rush.
I remember doing so many back to back to back Baal run games and missing out on loot, or grabbing up a bunch of it.

The issue of instanced loot is it would have the potential to instantly drop X times more loot (X being number of players).
To combat that you would need to reduce the overall quality and quantity of items dropped so that things don't become too easy.

For example, doing a Baal run on Destruction might net you 4 uniques? (I forget the exact number)
Doing a Baal run with 6 players would be 24 uniques with less effort since everyone is sharing the work.
It just doesn't work out very well without drastically changing the loot drop system, which I think is great the way it is currently.

There are a lot of things I don't like about D3 and instanced loot was one of them.

I also revised the persistent lifebar code to make it ignore enemies that had 100% of their life. This feature can still be toggled on & off via the in-game config.
