Controlling characters with 8 directions can feel very clunky. Not only that, but there are also usually a lack of variation in animations which can be tiring. I luckily stumbled upon 3d animations ripped from a game called Bless Online (by youtuber rroobboo 999) that can be rendered in 16 directions. There also seemed to be a good amount of alternate animations that could be used. Here is the finished product:
The morph contains every necessary animation (a1,a2,nu,gh,bl,cs,wl,rn). It even has an initial cast and special attack animation (the jump attack). The only thing missing is the kick animation, but that's not a huge issue.

The initial cast to morph into the Wereowl isn't blizz quality, but it was actually custom made frame by frame in photoshop:
Cast into morph:

Blizzard werebear cast:

Luckily, the mooncast overlay you see in the video helps the transition look good. I tried making my own overlay cast to look similar to the werebear/werewolf casts, but making these effects work in d2 using photoshop isn't very easy.
Overall, I'm happy with the progress. I'm hoping future morphs will look as good. Stay tuned!
