Is this just outdated text or is there some way to upgrade class charm? I thought the two charms are separate?

I'm not 100% sure, since i'm not at that point myself, but i think it's the same function as pre-sigma - you put this charm and your class charm in the cube, then transmute them together. That should then add the "black Road Charm" bonuses to your class charm.
