As for the rumours I was as surprised as any Arsenal fan would be, but thats Arsenal. And with no chance of signing top class striker, they are prone to signing a mediocre one e.g Giroud. I think that only a strong striker with teamwork qualities can solve their struggles. Why? Cause Arsenal attacking players(wingers) lack upper body strength and a strong teamplayer upfront can really open up their pace. Berbatov was a perfect example. And this is WHY Ibra wouldn't be a good signing for them EVEN if they had a 1% chance of signing him. Cavani is the only teamplaying intelligent phisically strong striker of all that are linked with Arsebal, but he lacks passing precision and tehnique. Benzema, Ibra and Lavazzi are solo players, and are also impossible to sign... by Arsenal. The perfect match for Arsenal at this point is hands down - Lewandowski. Intelligent, strong, clinical, teamplayer, but If they can't sign Benzema, signing Lewandowski from a team that wants to preserve its title winning team and has no need for money injections - makes impossible look possible.

Nowadays we can believe only official team sites when the transfer is over and the player is standing with his new team's T-shirt. Hard to see something rather real among the swarm of sports tabloids

Don't forget that since some time Arsenal have problems with their players being glassy (or it's Arsenal medics' fault?) like Walcott. Imo, Kokorin may be a good variant as a substitute striker.

My vote is for Griezmann. Arsenal is probably the only team in EPL which fits his style of playing.

Kokorin has terrible stats and he is playing in a mediocre league (Russia). Although young (24) his stats can't impress, I cant imagine what they would be if he plays in the EPL. I just spoke to the secretary of the Bulgarian support club, and he said that signing a striker before the window closes is less than 0%.

Sounds depressing to have to rely on Giroud and Welbeck until then next window.
