I dont think I need to introduce this game to be honest. And I personally not sure if I can review this game fairly. Im sure if you is a fan of this series, you wouldve play it already.

This game is a new entry on new platform back on 2016. Most of Neptunia entry have been from PS3, which then have been rebooted into PSVITA version with a gameplay & story rework. Title wise, this supposed to be 2nd entry to the 3rd game (title stand for Victory-2), but new gamer dont need to know anything aside maybe read abit how neptunia world work. Despite being on PS4, the game didnt fully utilize the graphic power, making it look like low budget game (which probably is) that reused most of the several previous entries asset.

I didnt have issue with story, which is pretty much interesting & probably the best in the entry (3rd entry have the best meta joke). But I have many issues with all new "mechanic" introduced with the game. While something I can appreciate making the game more depth, but I have issue with a lot of new grinding & tedious stuff that added with this. Mainly the system that required you to wait 10 to 20 minute in game time for result. Despite I finished they story in maybe like 15 hours, the extra 30 hours was spent mainly for achievement grind.

Can I recommend this game to you as new player? I probably will go with Rebirth 3 which I think have better overall package. If you wanted to play this, I can only recommend you to play normally, and go for true ending. Unless you have a lot of time to grind the achievement.

Alternative :
Fairy Fencer F - from same developer. I rather you play this as it is less girl-ish / moe and more casual
Yakuza series - this is getting more likeable as "budget" title

just done beat first cyberpunk 2077 as StreetKid with all side quests done. overall great game, kinda worth the wait too if it didnt end up being shipped as a half-baked game. CDPR dropped the ball with this one on the innumerable amount of bugs its got, some of them gamebreaking. its a good thing the game has a generous autosave system or id be screwed over a lot of the times.

ill give it a 8/10 on the content and general open worldedness thing, its no witcher 3 in scope but does the trick very well.

not big update outside i just finished legendary difficulty in Titan Quest with my friends
seem like i managed to upgrade my old ranger with full set gear, and finally having fun with it
so i guess Titan Quest difficulty is highly based on how much you farm + lucky to get the item
alas, i have to stop now to prepare for my grand plan

which is to sign up a xbox account and subscribe for 3 months of Xbox game pass
EXCEPT IT FREAKING NOT AVAILABLE IN MY FREAKING COUNTRY

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
FREAKING MY LIFE

*Im scavenging all my old purchase to see if i got any game that sound interesting to play. Easily there are hundreds of them. Too bad it wouldnt be something that I really wanted like those games available in EA play or Xbox game pass.

Out of bodies experience!
Image

This game is quite old, as you would know with my recent incident, Im running out of the good game that I really wanted to play. Thus I was searching my game list and found this game. I used to pirate this in the past, but I didnt finish it. Thus I complete it now.

The swapper have very simple mechanic. Ability to swap body with one of the clone. You also have ability to create 4 clones at the time. The goal is basically you need to solved a specific amount of puzzle room, in order to unlock to next major area. The game is kinda designed like metroidvania where you have a gate that you need to come at later time once you unlock your progression. The game did introduce several extra mechanic in the level itself like a barrier that block you from spawning clone or swapping body, a box that you have to push around, even it introduced mindbending reverse gravity!

The story is simple & barebones. You are tasked to go into a spaceship which now defunct & there is no one here except for 1 person. You job is to restore the power & hopefully unravel the mystery behind the incident. Level design wise is pretty basic, but it is designed to look like a proper spaceship that you have to navigate around while solving the puzzle. Atmosphere is pretty dreadful, it almost remind me of any horror game. Thankfully, there is no jump scare here, although story is kinda shallow unless you read all notes existed in the game (which im obviously skipped)

Obviously I recommend you to try this, especially with that price. Just dont expect something grand with deep lore or world building. Despite it simple design, some of the puzzle is quite tricky.

Alternative :
Soma - This is the first title that remind me off especially with light puzzle & dread atmospheric setting.
Stealth Inc - Tough as nail puzzle platformer, although the game is kinda too long for me.
Portal - Please tell me that you have at least have played this game
Talos Principle - Another great 3D puzzle game, similar though provoking stuff

*I dunno what is the best size for banner above. I just wanted it to look nice and readable, but the image i get from internet something have different scale which made it harder to rearrange them around. Maybe I should create a proper template.

Anime + The Matrix = THIS!

I will be honest that main reason why I played this game is to get inspired. I kept thinking about creating a fun bullet hell game in 3D with anime girl for years now. When I saw this game several weeks ago, I was kinda want to give it a try. Only when Im running out of game to play then finally I downloaded it.

The game is simple 3D 3rd person shooter. You have several ability with cooldown like dash, time stop bubble, time reverse & your ultimate. Weapon came with simple 2 concept where you can use shotgun when on hip (not aiming) or sniper rifle while aiming. Gameplay is consist of moving from one arena to another arena, with more combat intense as game goes on. There several enemy type, albeit introduced too quickly. While the game is not really hard, but it is kinda fun to move around & spamming your powerful ability.

The turning point for this to me is probably the awesome boss fight. Although I admit the boss is kinda cheating (instant-kill ability near the end), there are just enough moveset for you to learn and try to beat it in one go. The arena fights though get repetitive as you are only have maybe about 4 differents enemy that came in almost hundreds at the end of the games. There is some comic strip / story about the game, but i pretty much ignore.

Should you try it? Yes, it is pretty neat short demo for awesome games (score here just reflected it ultra budget games) that have potential to be great if it expanded upon.

Alternative :
Vanquish : Definitely a more polished AAA title, pretty cheap if you ask me.
Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae : Another anime budget games (DMC clone) that pretty cheap
Binary Domain : Another 3rd person squad based shooter with pretty interesting story.

Every choices come with consequences!
Image

You should know by now that walking simulator is not everyone cup of tea. For me, I just need just enough gameplay so that I considered it as a proper medium even if it is linear. This game could be category like dialogue based adventure game (you know, games from 80s and 90s), but i guess story-driven game is the best description.

This game is quite tricky to explain unless I mentioned about its time mechanic a bit. Our protagonist suddenly a shocking event in her school that suddenly bring back her in time. Then she realized that she have power to manipulate time at her own free will. This have several gameplay purpose from opening new option in dialogue, change your decision after event played, solving some simple puzzle. As I said above, every choice you made MATTER, especially its episodic nature that your consequence can only be seen in later episodes.

I think the strength of this game is probably the art direction. Because this game revolved around watching event cutscene, the cinematographic and combined with music played in background managed to bring out atmosphere of it. The characters that exist in the game, even the side character felt important and real, especially one that you keep communicating with throughout episodes. Gameplay have some varieties, especially the puzzle part, although my favourite would be solving mystery. Thankfully it only have minor QTE moments

This game is no doubt have my biggest recommendation so far. As long as you willing to sit down watching a 10 hours movie, this game is a masterpiece experience that should experience blind (i spoilt myself with full spoiler review, but i still enjoyed it).

Alternative :
What Remains of Edith Finch - Another masterpiece 2 hours first person experience
Virginia - Another first person walking simulator experience, quite bizarre as well
Firewatch - Another walking simulator, but feel more mechanic with exploration
Stories: The Path of Destinies - More like choice-a-outcome adventure with like ARPG mechanic

Im one step away from this game
Image

I saw the trailer about this game long time ago, i saw the potential of the game. Im was hoping at least the other part of the game can be improved in the future. I also usually review a game only i finished several runs for a rogue-lite, but i think i have to wait long time before i can play this game again.

It is pretty hard to explain the mechanic of this game aside from saying it is like Megaman Battle Network combat system. You have a 4 x 4 tiles that you can move around while shooting your weapons. In same time also, you have regenerating mana as well as a limited deck as your "spell". Just like other deck building rogue-lite, you also have mechanic of choosing your path, upgrading your cards, collecting artifacts, manage your resource as well as beating super tough bosses. While you playing, this bosses eventually became your playable characters.

Now here my biggest issue with the games. First of all, the combat is super fast & hectic. Even with 75% speed, i still feel the pacing of game are way too fast. To make it more harder, you have monitor several parts of the screen, from your aiming position, watching enemy attack indicator, your current spell cards, at same time move around same time. Combined with super clutter graphic design, making the game a mess to play with, especially when I have issue with this type "visual bombardment". This is probably one of several games on my library that made my eye feel so painful (other was Muse Dash & Forager)

Personally, my recommendation is to wait abit, or at least watch the trailer to see if you gonna like it. To be honest, I was kinda hyped for new type of rogue-lite only to be disappointed with game design & artstyle.

Alternative :
Furi - This is how you create engaging combat with bullet hell
Hyper Light Drifter - Souls-like, pixel art, methodical combat
Full Metal Furies - Seriously, even though this is different genre, it felt more polished
Sundered - Another game I felt have similar chaos & hectic.
*Not many game like this to be honest, hence lack of similar suggestion

A wide open shallow ocean experience.
Image

The only extra things I realized when finishing this game, is that the pc version I just finished is still early access title. This game was under 5 years development by 2 man teams, maybe that explained why the game came out it is. But I have to review the game as player who spent hours playing this game.

The game have a nice start after you survived airplane crash to a remote island. From the beginning, you need figure out a way to survive by hunting, scavenging, crafting and building. Then you realized that you run out of material, so have to use your starting lifeboat, to go to another island for better opportunities. Then you realized there are more hostile, especially in sea full of shipwreck with treasures. Eventually, you have to prepare yourself to fight sharks, and even more deadly sea monsters.

Now here what I hate about this game. The game have tedious way of inventory management, which required to drop & pick up item a lot. Imaging limited backpack, but you have carry stuff across island which journey can take few minutes. Despite you able to scavenging powerful tools & loots from shipwreck, you can only use for maybe 1 or 2 only. I think the sad things is probably the progression, especially on crafting part. If many other games have maybe like 5 or 10 tiers, this game felt like only 2. Not to mention, some of stuff are behind RNG since all island are randomly generated.

The game have potential no doubt, but if this is a result after 5 years of development, i think it is not worth your time. Despite I spent 30 hours, most of times are spent on raft traveling in between island, as well as waiting for specific cooldown.

Alternative:
My time at Portia - This have much more variety of content you can do
Smoke & Sacrifice - A dark story, more action than crafting survival
Space Rangers - Somehow, different genre but the concept remind me of this game
Subnautica - Tbh, i havent played much of this, I cant say much

This is so freaking DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
Image

After my previous surprised of enjoying survival games, i have been wondering why I skip this game although I have it is installed for awhile. I know VR port was mediocre, but one thing for sure, if the game doesnt have ending, im gonna hate it.

This game is about a crew who survived from airship crash when it was attacked by some sort of powerful gun. As you miraculously survived, you need to adapt & established contacts with other survival. It seem like the alien planet you just crash landed, hold many mystery & secret deep underneath the sea. Lets be honest, you probably wonder why I give it full score for this. I was 100% got hooked without feeling of dragging or boring. In fact the the only i quit was when i need to go to sleep or eating. I did to play blind in the beginning, but once Im stuck, i just read stuff that can speed up the way (still took my time exploring)

Firstly, the world of Subnautica is varied with all its unique biomes. Each of biomes have its own identity, from a underwater forest, dark cavern, deep trench & dangerous lavaflow. Considering the game is about exploration, it just need to swim around the area while searching for stuff that can help you with survival. One of key gameplay feature is ability to scan objects in your surrounding. Some will give you new blueprint, some will unlock powerful stuff while some will add entry to your database. This thing alone made game so hooked to play.

Next, the game have a lot of activity for you to do. From scavenging stuff, building a base, setup a farm, all while you listening to various call for help from the survivors. The more interesting part is that the game have a lot of tiers in every activity, making it is kinda suitable to whatever kind of gameplay you like. From playing in creative mode with no death, freedom mode with no thirst and hunger, the normal survivor as well as a more hardcore mode. One thing for sure, this game know make everything intriguing and yet, terrifying.

This game no doubt one of my great games that I enjoyed. Despite the story is lack of cutscenes, but experience & stuff you can learn from data lore alone is make up for it. I giving you a great recommendation to play this. Oh i almost, aesthetic of sea, experience with glowing fishes while it is dark is so freaking mesmerizing.

Alternative : (As i just played similar game before, i will give you new suggestions)
Prey - Similar crafting & fear of unknown while playing the game
Soma - Again, scary experience with underwater levels
Forager - Not horror, but similar fast pace scavenge & build new technologies
Song of the Deep - Simpler underwater metroidvania & exploration

*Tbh, only negative part i could think of is probably lack of reason or arsenal to kill dangerous creature. But i guess that dont apply to this game much as it was design differently.
