ImmortalPhoenix wrote:I agree with you on the second part--however the models/sprites used for "Erniys" and "Colossal Tunnelers" aren't unique to D2. As far as layouts and tile sets what I mean is...I don't want to go through a lab and have my lizard-brain instinctively think that I'm doing a Nihlathak run, or rescuing Anya. I'm sure there's a simple solution for this, perhaps put the lab maps over a backdrop of space/the moon and stars. This thread once had a picture of something like this, and I thought it looked really cool (despite being a "small" cosmetic change). As far as I can tell it's nowhere to be found in Sigma...
Yeah, I referred to them as unique in the context of MXL, in D2 they are common enemies. Well technically in MXL Erinys' leathery-winged variants are common enough, Observers' sprite too, but in conjunction with the rest they still give a feeling of novelty imho. Yup I get what you mean with the rest, also I remember the image you're talking about and many other pics no longer there, but many were just a preview of what was theoretically possible and some idea couldn't be actualized fully during development due to various limitations. Altho I was only a beta tester at that time so a good chunk of info is lost to me.

I think this would be a great thing to bring back so new players have something to reference as they progress so they don't miss out on level challenges and have to back-track on something like the sunstone of twin seas. I mention this because this is where I've noticed a big "falling-out" many new players have in realm wherein they take the conventional D2 approach of getting rushed to hell, realize they've skimped on the twin seas sunstone and class charm, and it's not until around level 100 that they feel stupid, get frustrated, or just flat-out quit.
Oh the MXL statue to be cubed, that brings back memories. At the time there were a lot of threads of people that missed the statue info, and since reading has gotten just harder with time, I guess it wouldn't really help in the end. Also fortunately there are no more max lvl entry caps for the challenges, only min lvl, so ultimately is a non-problem if one misses the challenge and decide to do it at a later time... the AC penality is really mild. Let me tell you that if a player quits just because of that non-existent issue, then he/she would've quitted later on at the first major difficulty anyway.

No problem, in return I really appreciate when a post is not just a rant or a non-constructive whining. When an unexpected nerf brings down all the fun you could possibly muster from the game, and you're not open to step out from the previous comfort zone for the sake of experimenting, then it most likely means you were hanging from a thread doomed to snap sooner or later.
