Solar flare AoE is much bigger than what it looks like, it doesn't scale with level.

And I didn't mean to come up as angry or anything. I just want to point out the mechanics as clear as I can. There is no way anyone can tell exactly how each skill works right away. It's important to give the build some time before doing a sober analysis of it. The mechanics are not that simple but I'm sure that with enough player testing and research, both dragon caster and dragon melee can become top tier builds in median.

i have halved my hours of sleep last night to test the holy paladin and the impressions so far are :

- the melee got a nice boost from having plague in early game . i am fine with the merkabah removal ;
- the bonuses from incarnation only make up for the removal of the Character orb untill mid-end game when it is great to have .
- Removing the slow from lionheart is great
- i am still not impressed by the holy caster . it still makes me wana go for apocalypse / other oskills as main attack . Higher AOE please !
- the dependency of having casted solar flare first so you can "do x" / "benefit from y after" is reducing the fun . it gives you no choice but to use it , even as a 1-pointer . gives me no reason to put more than 1 point into it . maby decrease the timer with hard points or something? give it higher aoe ?

* i will update the Tristan holy melee (old school retaliator) miniguide in my compilation and then add a new holy melee in a few days . I had this new holy melee build and a holy caster one done since last year but had no time for a release ; the holy caster will still wait untill better tree changes will occure (or maby just go for oskills)

Leech from incarna is rly powerfull.

Im lvl 30 now and i have 38% leech from passiv + i could mo evern more leech/leak wich would make me invincible trough whole mid game i guess :lol:

Thing what annoys me a bit is colloseum kb wich kbs the mobs outside of the debuff area, other then that melee rocks now even on p8 and im fine with solar flare casting it every 5 sec since it allows me to use reta without being struck and not to mention the sick bonus from incarnation.

I checked paladin items uniques weapons tiers. there some stats need to be fix because searing glow doesnt exist anymore in skill build holy paladin.

Right now I'm dangling around the issue of having enough skillpoints to put into everything that I want. That or I haven't quite figured out a more optimal way of doing it. Barbarian syndrome really. Hammerstrike is really good, don't get me wrong, but I find retaliate more of a priority for early leveling. I might respec occasionally and max it for bosses, the crit on it deals surprisingly good damage with the amount of strength you get.

Also, this might be just me, but I find Plague lacking a lot in damage early on in Hatred. Granted it does have a whopping 30% damage per hard point, so I'll see later on. Still only in Hatred atm.

Overall though, at least for melee, its a great and much needed buff for a build that got nerfed hard around 2010. It's nice to see sparking all around the screen again :3
Haven't done caster yet though, I plan on doing it when I begin farming areas that are more rough for melee.

I really want to give dragon melee a proper try, but having to recast solar flare every 5 seconds + only being able to recast when it runs out is too annoying for me. I'd rather see a weaker version of Incarnation that works without solar flare than having to recast it constantly just for the very strong passive.

I like the ridiculous amount of monsters and fast-paced kill speed of MXL, this playstyle seems to oppose that.

Probably the biggest thing I didn't mention, it feel's less fun. Dragon oath was able to be recasted before it ended, and casting it didn't cause the player to stop moving as long as Solar flare so the momentum kept up.

I'm in the same boat as you, Segolia. There are so many things to put points into now and I have just been trying to keep up. Plague seems to not be worth it in early leveling. Just did TA while using that cold skill (such a great utility) and still had a bit of trouble in melee. Bosses also give me a hard time for whatever reason.
