I think we can all agree there was some fun in corpse recovery, but the removal just outweights it:
- SP endgame is now more in line with realm endgame
- Better server performance (less need to re-create or re-join games)
- No need to perm games for 5 minutes
- No more people losing their entire gear due to str bug / human error / lag
That is, in addition to the fact that, recovering corpse wasn't always fun. Especially like when you had to walk long areas, such as when you die in underground passage or chaos sanctuary.
Finally, yes people are saying you could make terrorist (on-death proc based builds). And to be honest it sounds like something quite fun (considering on-death procs weren't a big deal). At most you will be able to kill some medium difficulty ubers with that strategy, so I don't really see the problem with it.
In the future, we want to enhance the lack of corpse with new features such as boss events (quests you need to do without dying) as well as putting a timer after you die (like 10 seconds) to prevent potential abuse.
