Problem with MF

D2 and MF, the neverending tale about how much is enough.
Let's take a quick look how MF works in D2.

After the game determines a base item to drop, it performs a number of quality checks. The order of these checks is unique, set, rare, magical, rest i.e. the game determines if the item is unique first, if this unique check fails, it tries for set, etc.

Step by Step instructions of the unique check: (Note: lower chance is better)

1. starting point
chance = unique - ((mlvl - qlvl)/UniqueDivisor)

mlvl = monsterlevel (120 for destruction difficulty)
qlvl = quality level of the base item (1 for amulets/rings; 70-90 for Sacred Armors/Weapons )
unique = 150 (SP value, not the realm value)
UniqueDivisor = 1 (SP value, generally not important)

2. precision
chance = chance * 128

3. Magic Find
Now MF enters the equation. MF has diminishing returns and is used to calculate Effective MF(eMF)

eMF = (Factor * MF) / (Factor+MF) (Factor = 250 for unique, 500 for set, 600 for rare.)

and it lowers chance by: (lower is better)

chance = chance * (100 / (100 + eMF))

MF eMF 100/(100 + eMF)
375 150 0.4
750 187.5 ~0.348
1000 200 0.333
1600 216.2 ~0.31

4. lower bound for unique success
if chance < Uniquemin then chance = Uniquemin
Uniquemin = 3000 (SP value, not the realm value)

5. QualityFactors
omitted. Relevant for bosses and drop bias. (reduces chance further)

6. Random roll
And the final step. The games rolls a random number between 0 and int[chance] - 1. If this number is less than 128 the check is successful and the game makes a list of all possible uniques it can drop from this specific item and chooses one randomly based on rarity(not all uniques are equally likely).

From affix/suffix list - you can get 80 MF on armors. ASSume you craft armor, boots, gloves and helmet and you get over over 80 Mf with lvl 88 req gears = 4 x 80 = 320 Mf.

You should differentiate more between the armor type.
From affixes alone you get:
body armor(torso) : up to 125% (+ up to 120% Spiritual Shrine Craft + Bless; +60% MO, +180% crafted jewels)
helm, belt, gloves : up to 40% each ((+ up to 80% Spiritual Shrine Craft + Bless; +60% MO, +X% crafted jewels))
boots : up to 15% (+ up to 80% Spiritual Shrine Craft + Bless; +60% MO, +120% crafted jewels)

Craft jewels with 30 Mf x 24 = 720 Mf
Belt - Lilith = 200 Mf
From affix/suffix list - you can get 80 MF on armors. ASSume you craft armor, boots, gloves and helmet and you get over over 80 Mf with lvl 88 req gears = 4 x 80 = 320 Mf.
Rings - roll rings with 40 Mf and add 15 MOs = 70 Mf x 2 = 140 Mf
Amulet = add 15 Mos = 30 Mf
So far in total 720 + 200 + 320 + 140 + 30 = 1410 MF.

And you still have MO space on your lvl 88 double MO armors.
And Sleep charm.
And Butcher tooth charm.
And Fools gold charm.
And Triune trophy.
And cycles.

I know it's possible, but you still need to kill stuff and survive to collect the loot.

Well, I think I got it, my game officially hate me... obviously :x :x :x :x , Look like my number is always bigger then 128... seriously, I tried everything, DUNC, TA, Bloody foothills, Terul.... for mounth ( Terul little less, about 15 times )... And I cany trade, im single player, and pretty stubborn, I wanna get it on my own... Loosing patience...

Honestly you are either bullshitting or VASTLY over-exaggerating. On single player a full duncraig clear even with 100mf gives a cube full of sets + sacred uniques. Are you sure you are on destruction difficulty?

Ok, since you all think Im bullshitting you, I even got the date since I start farming ( because I backup my saved games ), and its 07.05.2015, that's almoust 3 mounth, right. And I know to select difficulty, by now....... I keep getting a bunch of SU for other haracters, but sometimes I get NOTHING, hole run.... About SETs, I have no trouble with that, but that's not what I want. Since I start to farm, I only got DEMENTIA ( which is not barbarian only ), Morlu's Friend, and Blade of the Jitan. Why would I be lie ? Or VASTLY over-exaggerat ??? Kriegsmesser or Labrys or some decent armour I can only see on youtube....

This is my opinion and you dont have to agree with it. So there are 2 options in your case:
1. You have way to much mf and you only get blue/rare items every run because they have 80-90% chace to drop with your mf lvl
2. You're not doing mf runs right or you farm wrong areas. Try dunc, fautz, k3kba and make sure you are on dest difficulty. Also doing mf run right mean that u focusing more on larger packs of mobs and skip single ones. Also this might be stupid but do you even check what drop you have when u i.e clear room in dunc ?

500% is super max, 250 is good without loosing killspeed, 150 is good to go. Pick one

Based on that graph I'd say you get the most "bang for your buck" at around 100% MF, above 300% diminishing returns start really coming into play. By the way the most important lines there are the chance factor ones, eMF kinda keeps growing but I think that's way less important.

Anyway the best number is always the same: the most you can afford without sacrificing [too much] damage and/or survivability, which is usually around 500% from what I hear.
