if you're going to take neph spirit, its usually a max-out skill for the returns on stat bonuses. you would pick it for the damage, so its best to get the most dmg out of it, otherwise no reason to select it

I've experimented with barb summons and snake stance, long story short it doesn't work. I've also tried lion stance for the lols, don't ever do that, it's suicide.

I think it does have some potential now with pierce inheritance.

Given that snapshotting is a must anyway for barb summoner, snapshotting for snake stance and then snapshotting meaty summons with backup frostwalkers might actually be quite strong if you can hit all the other thresholds needed for the build (pierce etc).

I'm not sure if minion damage scales the inherited poison damage, but I think the protector bloodlust should work on the guardian and protector melee hits.

Some minion damage is going to come even with this setup due to AR reqs, but that will help scale frostwalkers further.

I might try this in a couple of weeks if the new league has not started. Maybe in post league if not.

Thinking more about the snapshotting. It seems possible on the face of it to smax snake stance purely, without smaxing poison pierce, and smaxing poison pierce only on the summon setup.

I played around with snake stance on Summoner with the new pierce inheritance but it seems to fall off after fauzt at the latest. Normal psn throw barb scales with multiplier on stampete in endgame or by switching to deathstar, Guardian Spirits can do neither. Single target psn dmg is atrocious, probably because the wpn dmg multiplier on Spirits melee attacks is bad (either 50% on normal melee attack or whatever multiplier their version of retaliate has). That is a big downgrade compared to whirlwinds multiplier and your Spirits cannot Stack as much poison spell damage as you can (only from buffs and auras). Feels like all Single target dmg comes from Spirit reave and Guardian Spirit physical hits. And those hits are much weaker than in normal Summoner Setup without wolfstance.
Also, the poison spread of using stampede yourself or using death star feels much better than relying on spirits stampede and retaliate. The retaliate on spirits also seems to trigger very rarely, even after investing heavily in minion AR. And death star does not even check AR, so it is much more reliable.

Shame it doesnt scale to lategame, Had a blast during leveling tho
