I am definately not messing with torrents either so I guess I am just SOL when it comes to playing this mod :(

Wait, if you have physical copy of the game then you can just use D2SE or update your game up to 1.13c, however you need to install patches manually (not through battle.net). You don't need registered/valid D2 keys to play MXL, that's some misinformation.

Well I don't understand what you mean. Following the link you gave before, the forum post about installing median with D2SE and plugy. That way of installing requires Bnets reformatted game keys, the original physical copy keys dont work with those installers.

Since you say you have physical discs (which I assume includes LoD) and CD Keys, all you need to do is this (assuming the D2 version on your discs is lower than 1.14):
> Do a full install of D2 (type in CD Key when prompted). Do not install in the "Program Files" folder ("Program Files (x86)" is fine though).
> Install LoD (type in CD Key when prompted. Upgrade to full install if necessary).
> Download and manually install cLoD's 1.13c patch. Do not connect to BNet at any point.

At this point, D2 is prepped for Median. You can install it in 1 of 3 ways:
> Option 1: Download and install the Launcher and follow the on-screen prompts to install Median.
> Option 2: Download and extract the contents of the Median .zip file (not the folder itself) directly into your D2 folder, overwriting files as necessary.
> Option 3: Download and install D2SE+PlugY 10.00 --> Download and extract the Median .zip file and copy the whole folder (not just the files in the folder) into D2SE's "MODS" folder --> Download and extract the contents of the "D2SE-Median XL" folder (not the folder itself) into the Median folder in the "MODS" directory.

Cool, I will give this a shot. I think after i install lod before patching my game is something like 1.08. I was just under the impression that older patches were nearly impossible to find/download these days.

Nah, you can get 1.13c patch directly from moddb.

Edit:
And if you're going the D2SE route, use the version listed in the Tools section here on the forum to make sure you have the right one.

Is there a similar build to the old atmg/wyrd sin? with both good single target and aoe dmg.

I know wyrd mo was removed, but I'm really looking for a "engineer" kind of class, where you lay stuff on the ground and they deal dmg for you.

Does it matter what Jewel you use for crafting? Or does it automatically create an ilvl 99 Jewel when you craft one?

I'm adding points to Spirit Guide, but I don't see the char screen showing any change in when nearby wolves and in combat. What could be wrong, other than me being a dummy? ^^

It does matter. After each craft, its ilvl will go down over time. So ideally you want to start at ilvl 99, and stop after 5-8 crafts. I don't remember the exact amount anymore to still get access to the sought after affixes (1% all stats / 2% main stat / 50 hp / 3% spell dmg)

ilvl is determined by where the item drops. Most uber areas in terror will drop ilvl 99 and anywhere act 4 terror and beyond is ilvl 99. (Terror) Vizjun, Fauztinville, K3K and Cow level are good areas to get jewels.
